And yes, look at our incarceration rates, and multiply that by 5 (we'll be modest and limit this to immediate family).
I would definitely say the prison industrial complex and the law enforcement that fuels it have done a lot more damage than crack cocaine.

So is it OK to rob a store with a gun, and as long as you do not use it (or really "plan" to use it) be charged only with simple robbery?
I'm just curious as to where your line is drawn on what constitutes "doing as they wish as long as they aren't "hurting" anyone else". After all, no one really got hurt in this scenario did they?
I'm pretty sure if you're robbing a store, you're not a peaceful person.
As for your scenario, the business owner would be injured by the theft of his goods and money. I'm not sure if it really matters if you're armed or not. Robbery is robbery.
According to Luisa Ranis Soos, who posted the video to Facebook, the guards claimed that Osche touched the officer. However, according to the video, this was entirely false.
61-Year-Old Man Violently Attacked by Police and Arrested for Singing a Beach Boys Song | The Free Thought Project
Yet another example of the police turning a non-violent situation into a violent one.
Not only did the officer not "throw the first punch", the guy was freakin walking away. When will they learn that cell phone cameras are ubiquitous and the "he started it" lie they were taught in the academy isn't gonna work anymore? Somebody needs to make a meme using the Maury picture that says... In the report you stated that the perp touched you first but the video you didn't know existed of the entire situation shows that was lie.
Cop should be fired immediately and then arrested and charged with assault. The two guards should be charged with at least making false statements if not obstruction of justice. Also, once fired, the cop should be on the hook for the civil suit instead of the tax payers.
I agree. As always, I'm sure there's more to the story. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy has harassed customers there before and been warned to stay off the property.
Actually, from what I've read he does it frequently And the overwhelming majority of responses are positive. They've never once politely asked him to to not do so.
But you guys are are right. There's nothing wrong with with tackling a man who's commited no crime and was walking away.
They've never politely asked him to leave? How do you know that? I used to work in a place where we had druggies and homeless people constantly hit up shoppers for money when getting out of their cars. All of them were asked not to do it, and most of them would come back and do it again regardless of us being nice. Then it would escalate with us telling them to stay off the property or we would have them arrested. Most customers appreciated and understood what we were doing, but occasionally we would have some idiot bleeding heart that didn't understand the situation and would start mouthing off. Of course, I would explain briefly what was going off, and if they kept running their mouths I would let them know quickly that they were no longer welcome at our establishment and they need to leave as well before they also got charged with trespassing.
Bottom line, by your own admission this guy was known to frequent the area. None of us knows what conversations the business and police have had with him prior to this situation, but he was clearly asked to leave and responded by pointing his finger in the faces of all 3 men and said, "you leave, you leave, and you leave." Then the officer grabbed his arm to arrest him and the guy tried wrestle away which is why he was taken down. This is not a case of police brutality by any stretch of the imagination. This guy is the one that escalated the situation. All he had to do was shut up and leave.
And pointing at people and saying they needed to leave and walking way... They really should've done society a favor and shot the scum bag.
I didn't see what you saw.....I saw a restaurant that apparently called the police to force a guy to leave....the guy got in the cops face and then turned( not to leave but got in the restaurant guys face....(can't see what happened then bc he is blocked by the two restaurant guys) .....it appears the cop is forcibly trying to make him move while the guy resists and then the cop throws him down to secure the suspect and move him off the property.
