Yeah there's a guy in California who does the same. I read an article once that claimed there's been a dozen or so small businesses that were basically forced out of business after loosing civil suits to him regarding the ADA.

Like I said the ADA is a joke. Go check out the ADA laws regarding renting a property to a handicap person if you want a really good laugh.

I don't disagree with handicap spots in principle but don't think they should be enforced through law. If I own a business I should be allowed to place as many spots (including zero) as I desire and if I feel they're being violated then I, as the owner of the property, can have the car towed.

The ADA, Americans with Disabilities act, is a complete joke

Equality only matters if you agree with the matter of equality that is the issue?

I deal with it every day. But there is a difference in your right to refuse service to someone, when it is a service, than it is to deny someone access because they are handicapped. And most owner/operators can charge extra for ADA units for the "inconvience." You get away with it by using different language calling the changes amenities and upgrades. Also it is required in 5% of units so its not like half the units have to be changed. Now if you want to complain about Fair Housing, go right ahead.

With all due respect, WTF are you talking about?

You can't just go to the DMV and demand a handicap sticker/tag. You have to have a note from a qualified medical personnel. So some guy in a convertible isn't the government's fault, but a doctors.

Now you see why I have him on my ignore list. If it wasnt for people quoting him, I wouldnt know what he said.

Mhm. This made my day. You just don't like it because I can: 1. Back up my points 2. Recognize when your comments/facts/links are biased to the point of hillarity. 3 I don't buy everything the anti-US-government crowd is selling

....
I think I'll get one of these to keep in my truck. Every time I get pulled over, I'll put it on.

Well if you deal with it every day you probably know exponentially more than I do about it. One example of what I was talking about though is let's say I'm renting out a house and a man in a wheelchair wants to be the tenant. Only he wants to lower all the countertops throughout the house to make it easier for him. Even though I don't have to pay for it and can even make him pay into escrow account to cover restoration, I feel like if I'd rather not do all that then I should be allowed to say sorry but find somewhere else. I'm not even saying that's what I'd personally do. It's just that it's a fairly big risk to take with your property and they take your ability to avoid that risk away from you. What if they guy dies one month into the lease? What if he turns to a horrible tenant that I have to evict and I'm forced to go through the court system to try and get my money back. That's a lot of time, energy, and legal fees to recover money for restoration for changes I didn't even want in the first place. That is if I ever recover it at all. I might just wind up footing the bill myself.

I just feel like if I own a property I should be allowed to veto changes that any tenant wants to make. If somebody can afford to have all the counter tops lowered in a house and then restored once they leave, then they can afford to purchase their own house where they can do whatever they feel to it.

Why are you saying this to me?

That shirt is stupid in so many ways. Can I stop being forced to pay for their services against my will?

No... Okay. Until then STFU and do your job how you're supposed to do it. Maybe actaully remember that oath you took. Ya know... The one where your said you'd uphold the constitution instead of whipping your ass with it, smearing it all our faces, and then acting like we're the bad guys for not liking it.

That'd be like Tony Soprano wearing shirt that said "Don't like our protection racket? Then find a crackhead to protect your store."

I actually hesitate to use the mafia analogy because yeah the mafia were bad guys and they'd make you miserable if you didn't pay your protection money, but at least they'd actually ensure nobody else messed with your store. And would usually make anyone who did sorry. Like government LE, their services weren't voluntary and funded through coercion but at least they actually did what they said they would. Best you can hope for with a cop is for them to show up and fill out a police report for your insurance. They also didn't try to pretend to be something they weren't. They were criminals and they knew it.
