The Vonn Bell thing was really unfair to skeeter. Bell trolled everyone Brent Hubbs included. Remember Fortenberry and Hubbs dropping their "Vols are in excellent position" line about an hour before Bell was set to go on TV? Bell wanted to stick it to Tennessee because of how Dooley treated him.

Gabe Wright told the coaches he was going to be a Vol on the morning of NSD too. Some of these recruits just like to play games and mess with people.

Heck Bell trolled everyone. Several people actually had articles with quotes. I think it was Feldman that put out an article on Fox about signing with TN

I truly think most these guys, cough, kids, really mean well. These players are being recruited in all directions, and UT was not in a position to out recruit OSU or AU at the time Bell and Wright were signing. Dooley screwed the pooch when it came to personal relationships with high school coaches. It was already pretty easy to point to/negative recruit UT's downfalls over the last 6-7 years, all Dooley did was add more negative material to the mix for other coaches to use against us.

The bright side to this disaster was the short time it'd take to see if a new coach could mend these personal relationships with high school coaches back. Butch passed this test, and now we are reaping the benefits of signing players like Hurd, etc.

You're exactly right. As much as it pains me to say this about Tennessee, we were viewed as a complete trainwreck by the rest of the country at the time and rightfully so. Butch has since quickly changed that perception but he was still relatively unknown at the time he was hired.

I don't blame Bell one bit for not picking Tennessee even though it really stung. He was an instate 5* player that grew up a Vols fan and was completely sh!t on by Dooley. He went to play for a proven winner/scumbag and has developed into an all-American type of player that will be making a ton of money by this time next year.

Excuse me, have you two met?

My cat is a hunter, he'd take on a cobra like a boss! He killed and beheaded the Easter bunny the morning of Easter and left the head on my front porch. Come at meow, bruh! :eek:lol:

I have one like that, too. Leaves small animal carcasses everywhere. I'm not a fan of cats indoors, but a good outside cat is priceless.

I don't have inside connections with recruits like some do, but I truly believe Bell wanted to be here. I just think lil Urbby came in last second and filled his ears with all the negatives of UT.

I'm fortunate to know some families who are big time UT donors, and I've never once heard them speak a word of praise about Dooley. Dooley tanked our program. The attrition Dooley bestowed on UT through his unjustifiable actions towards high school coaches, current/former players, etc., demolished all chances we had to be competitive for years after his departure. The job Butch has done so far is almost incomprehensible. He's turned our program a full 180 degrees in less than 2.5 years.

I can't even hate on Bell anymore. He won a natty. It worked out for him.

Water under the bridge. Too bad he handled the conclusion of his recruitment the way he did. Hopefully, he will learn a lesson as to how to handle tough decisions in life moving forward.

I'll honestly be glad in 2016 when Bell and Ramsey are in the NFL. Then we can (almost) fully move past the Dooley disaster and have a roster that isn't missing studs who should have been Vols.

It does make you lament what our secondary could have been this year. :banghead2:

I don't like posting much info about recruits because most are really flaky and some posters want to crucify you when you miss even if you are posting good info (see: Skeeter)

Davis has been and is recruiting Mecole to Tennessee very hard. Again tifwiw

Hope your rt. Makes sense with both them supposedly visiting this weekend
