If the university doesn't reinstate, they either think he did it and want to punish him beyond criminal charges or they're petrified of their own shadow (federal investigation) and are willing to piss off their own fanbase because they're afraid of getting in trouble for reinstating an officially innocent player.

There is a fine line between covering your ass and being susceptible to a lawsuit. My guess is that they run it by the general counsel, and lawyers will be making the decision. This is coming from a lawyer myself. He has already been punished by not attending summer school and being away from workouts.

Could hurt recruiting if players proven innocent/not charged still get punished. Hart needs to nip that.

The word is that the coaches expect clearance Mon-Wed but the PR side wants to wait and release reinstatement late in the week.

He'll be back by first full pads practice so coaches are on board.

This is all assuming the DA takes the recent evidence the way everyone is expecting.

See my post above from 8-2 in the VP thread on the FB forum, I still expect this timeline to take place.

Expect Von back by Friday practice, Saturday at the latest.

Pretty sure Von, his attorney and Butch have all been on the same page the past week since the recent rape kit results came in.

Von wants to do whats best for the team and University and if missing two more practices is it then that's it.

You saw his lawyer speak out yesterday against the University to bring some light to the issue and try and get the University to put more pressure on the DA's office.

Which looked like it worked and what the staff expected.

So anyway unless there is just such a negative backlash the other way for not immediatly reinstating Von the next 24 hours look for it to stick with the original plan and be a late week announcement and him being back on Fri/Sat.
