Von Pearson WILL NOT be charged

That would be a huge mistake to keep him out after letting AJ and Williams back in after being charged.

I agree, but the school judicial board works independent of athletics and with the federal investigation of UT regarding handling of sexual assaults, as one poster referenced above, this will likely move MUCH slower than UT fans would like.

Federal Investigation into university's handling of sexually related crimes = 1 excuse

yeah,i don't think we should get too excited here. glad for him this is working out for him, but there still has to be a decision made by the university as to whether or not they want to deal with the fall out from reinstating, and allowing to play, a player involved in this type of incident.

"found insufficient evidence" can mean a lot of things.

i don't know that it means there wasn't at least a reason to have the investigation to begin with....."something" happened, and it apparently warranted an investigation to find out if anything COULD BE CRIMINALLY PROSECUTED. they didn't say "innocent of all accusations". they just don't have proof of anything to pursue a prosecution.

good for him, but let's put the halo's way....

Well, I wonder if that wasn't the easy part/phase, having no charges brought by the DA's office. Now, the hard part....getting a bunch of politically correct liberal UT officials to lift the university's suspension and allow him back on campus/in classes. We'll see.

I'm not sure that the investigation into sexual assaults of UT students has a political bias.

UT not reacting speedily would have significant PR backlash. It would be colossally stupid to do nothing with this being headline news. IMO, UT will either lift the suspension or issue a statement as to why it is being upheld. The UTPD investigation is separate from the KPD investigation, so that would need to be closed.

i seriously don't get why everyone is so excited. "insufficient evidence" just means they couldn't find enough proof to prosecute. it doesn't mean that nothing happened, and he's completely innocent of all accusations.

there's a bigger picture folks.

I tend to agree with you, but it also wouldnt shock me if they took their time with this.

According to the Knoxville DA, there was "insufficient evidence" to bring charges against Pearson.

It is sad that this young man life has been put on hold. We are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. He was treated the opposite. I don't care about the face of the university. His rights were violated. Period.

Do you even understand what he was accused of doing?

No. Not taking classes this summer, not currently enrolled at UT for the fall. As Butch said in his presser on Monday when asked if the suspension was from the football team or the University...."both".
