Von Pearson Update

I just want to point something out - Are any of you familiar with Devon Still? The Bengals player whose daughter battled/battling cancer? Does the money raised for children's cancer research that Bengals fans contributed now become tarnished? Is that frowned upon that it took someone associated with a NFL team to bring to light that there's really not that much research done for children with cancer?

Why is it such a big deal?

Volation: "you can do the right thing, but don't even think about doing it for the wrong reasons." Who are you to say they're wrong.

If you don't like it then don't do anything, but don't try and bring me down.

I'm not talking about raising money for cancer, dude. Don't twist it all around. If some random guy was accused of rape it is likely that far less people would be following the issue so closely. That's all I'm saying.

And as the son of a cancer survivor, I do think it's noble to help raise money for cancer patients and thank all of those who are involved in that specific cause.

Why? You don't know the guy who called. Maybe he would have called in a different situation but just knows about this one due to the publicity?

I would call if I were local. But if I knew the same was being done to someone with an academic scholarship I'd use whatever influence I had with that too.

IMO, any pressure that is brought here BECAUSE of the publicity could end up helping people in the same situation who cannot command the interest that VP does. If this forced public officials to take a look at the way this is being handled... maybe it doesn't happen to the next guy who none of us will ever know.

All of this assuming there's no basis for charges of course.

Exactly, who cares for the reason the attention is brought to the situation.
It's like a celebrity starting a foundation for a cure after they came down with the illness. Do people criticize celebrities who start foundations to help find a cure? Do people say "they only started it because it affected them"? No they don't. People only tend to get interested in things that affect them in some way or the other.

The DA and KPD aren't preventing Von from attending fall camp... or enrolling in classes... or playing in September. UT suspended Von. UT isn't allowing Von to play. UT overturned Von's appeal to return to campus. Vince Carilli is the one who unilaterally decreed that Von Pearson is "a significant risk of substantial harm to the health and safety of others"-- without providing a rationale for his decision. If the investigation closed today and the DA announced she would not pursue charges against Von, there is no indication that UT would lift the suspension or allow Von to play.

If you're going to witch hunt, hunt the right witch.

Does said witch float?

Sorry had to do it

I agree, I said it somewhere in the past hour that the attention needs to be placed somewhere else and you are correct on where.

I agree with this and I stated before the DA may have been the wrong direction. You make great points.

I feel if the UT admin was contacted they would resort to the "pending investigation" defense. I don't know for certain.

There's a lot of witch hunting that needs to be done to help Von, so I think targeting the media would be most beneficial, as someone mentioned.

Lol, you nor the other defender of the weak would give a flying **** if this were anyone but a Tennessee football player.

You're making some mighty big assumptions. How do you know what causes I support. We do have lives outside of Volnation. I have a family, job, church, and causes that I strongly believe in. Because I am not a media whore parading in front of a camera, does not mean that I don't seek to right wrongs.

Seriously people? Fans calling the DA's office to ask what the hold up is makes even Jimbo Fisher laugh.

It's pretty obvious that you are in denial. It's ok to admit it.

Hold up sir, they are entitled to answers and for the DA to speed things up.............the season is right around the corner bro

I don't think the outcry would be as bad if they let him at least attend classes to better himself and finish his degree. He will have a life after football. If he was enrolled, I doubt the outcry would be as bad. Maybe I am fooling myself.

It's ok guys. I just talked to "Gary." The whole DA's office just got out of a meeting. Press conference is scheduled for 4:00 pm.

I can't say specifically what the topic will be, but it's safe to say the WR corp just got a lot deeper!

Oh, and there will be a personal apology to our Good Samaritan Vol fans for the mental anguish they've endured this summer. Thanks fellas!

Half the goobers that call probably ask their question and then can't figure out why they don't get an answer after they say, "I'll hang up and listen."

It's great to know that Gary is just one call away. We can all put that number in our phones for future reference.
