Lots of optimism after day one! What is everyone's pick for the "come to Jesus" practice? The practice where the energy isn't there and Butch and the coaches rip the team a new one? Mine is practice 7

Tell me if I'm wrong, but physically our guys look like they're on a completely different level than last year.

For years my dad, who loves to watch UT but doesn't follow the details very closely, said "our players just don't look the same as everybody else. they seem slower and smaller." I didn't really believe it much until Butch started bringing in high caliber guys again, and you can see the difference.

Now we have a team full of them. It's completely changing the competitive landscape of UT football. We're almost back on an even playing field with the rest of the SEC.

That's unfortunate. Worst position on our roster this year IMO, based on last year's performance anyway.

It's crazy because he played so well at guard last year. I personally though Brett Kendrick was our best LT option. I wish he was playing there, he's more athletic than Kyler. Imo they should swap, but I'm also not a coach. Hopefully DeBord can help turn it around.

I agree. Jackson and Kerby were our best guards in my amateur opinion. I just can't fathom that three years in Kyler is still our best option at LT. I'm not sure that even Vandy would trade for him at LT

I don't mind Kendrick staying at RT. I have nightmares of Striker coming off that right side of the O-Line still. Kendrick is our best guy to put up against him, IMO.

Don't post often, but read everyday. While I'm neither a coach nor the most football literate, I believe that if Drew Richmond can take the Right Tackle spot, they will move Kendrick to Left Tackle, put Kerbyson at Right Guard, and move Robertson to center. Thats probably the best five IMO, but thats only if Richmond (and while it's not a huge if, I don't know if it's probable from the get go) can adequately play the Right Tackle position so early.

Robertson to center? I think Coleman would be the only one to take that spot. If Richmond starts at tackle, we're in trouble. Jmo

Robertson has gotten looks at center from reports from spring, and if he can grasp the calls, I think he would be an upgrade over Thomas or Crowder due to his size and strength.

I don't think Richmond will start, and my scenario is only contingent on if the staff feels comfortable that Richmond can perform better than Kendrick at Right Tackle. That's the only way I can see him starting, and if that does happen, I don't think it would be anything to worry about. It would mean Richmond really is a 5 star with the potential of Juwan James.

With all that said, I still think the line opens up against Bowling Green Kerbyson, Jackson, Crowder, Robertson, Kendrick from left to right.

On defense we were big but slow under Dooley. We have kept most of the size but exponentially improved our speed.

All I have read says Coleman @ center for more aggresivness and Richmond at RT. Most likely later in season.
