'15 GA WR Preston Williams (UT Signee 2/4/15)

By the way, I wonder what the penalty is if he doesn't score close enough to his high score. Someone said "he gone", but I wonder what the exact punishment is. Does anyone know? Maybe sit out one year????

I assume that they would simply disallow the funky score and he just needs to get a qualifying score. Not coming close to the higher score might seem like a smokng gun, but it doesn't prove anything bad.

I think he's an outstanding takent, but we will be ok...

Unlikely he would've been more than playing a role this year anyway.

If he can make the score he needs to make this could be a blessing in disguise. This would allow him the proper time to heal from his injury and start off his college career at UT at 100%

That was my original assumption/point, in an earlier post. But Engineervol quoted Callahan as saying you have to score within three points or so of the funky high score when you retake it. But the quote didn't say what the penalty was if you don't score within the three points or so. Maybe the implication is that if you retake the test and don't make a qualifying score on the retake but are within the three points or so of the funky high score, they'll allow you to qualify on the funky high score????

PW is gonna play and play a lot if cleared. Kid is a special talent. He steps on campus and beside North instantly becomes the 2 best natural WR on the team.

I have a question for you rules experts. Does a walk-on need to meet the NCAA entrance requirements, and would they be flagged for test score improvement like Preston was? In other words, do the NCAA requirements only relate to scholarship players? If so, then a booster could pay for Preston's education and he could play without a scholarship.

If what I am thinking is true, then the NCAA is messed up worse than I thought.

P.S. I am not volunteering to pay for his education!

This is basically what Tyndall did. You know, the same guy that will never coach CBB again and is facing 7 major violations. Southern Miss is on suicide watch because of him.

As for PW, if he does not get close to his previous score, he will be ruled ineligible, which means he can't be on scholarship which means he isn't at UT. They are basically saying we think you cheated, prove you didn't.

I hate the NCAA.

This sucks bad for Preston because there's absolutely no proof he's done anything wrong. Its a guilty until proven innocent situation. He absolutely should be allowed to practice until he retakes it. BS way of enforcing a suspicion.

Same poster said Preston was confident it shouldn't be a problem.

I am more worried about how long it will take him to get the results than when he is going to take the test. After he finally gets the test results, he still has to wait on the NCAA to approve it.

NCAA = No Concern About Anyone

Yep. He may pass but have to wait weeks for them to feel like looking at and releasing the info. Typical NCAA...
