The truth behind Joc Bruce

As I said idk what the fight was over or what happened only the people there do . But I'm guessing maggit/ croom told him not to step on the carpet he then said something along the lines of don't tell me about tradition when I was born a vol fan . U didn't know who we was 6 years ago

Then a angry upperclassmen proceeds to punch joc in the mouth

It's been reported he was corrected multiple times.

Regardless there's an unspoken/unwritten rule when you're the new guy/ low man on the totem pole that you should know your place & keep your mouth shut.

Yea I agree. joc went by this all wrong but that's just my opinion on how it went down lol

I think we are seeing a change in attitude with our whole program. We now have a coach who respects what UT football is all about. I'm sure he doesn't want the players beating each other up, but altercations happen in the locker room. Always have and always will. The goal is to have every player respect the traditions we have. We're not there yet, but we're heading in the right direction. I pity the opposing player who disrespects us during a game. Flags will fly. At least we don't have either of the last 2 coaches we've had. Neither one of them gave one damn about UT.

Just wanted to drop by and say hey to everybody on the thread that won't go away. Might as well bump it again I guess. :bump3:

I am happy about what Croom did. No one wants a cancer in the locker room or someone killing team unity. You have leaders on the team for this specific reason. Anyone who has played sports at a high level, knows this.

Did any of this even happen? Wow!

Best I can tell, AJ Johnson and von Pearson did something to Joc Bruce in the bathroom. Jason Croom was too busy explaining how things work to Justin Martin to stop it. At least that's what Charles Mosley told me while we were driving down the interstate. So right now it's all just rumor.

With AJ's and Von's history, this sounds really bad?

Careful riding with CM on the interstate...he's not had the best of luck behind the wheel recently.

You don't punch people in the face, especially teammates, unless you are in an actual fight. It's called assault. People have been seriously hurt and even killed by sucker punches. It's easy to pretend it was Joc's fault because he was freshman who'd never played or violated some UT tradition or somesuch. BS. I'm fairly sure that a real team LEADER would not punch a teammate--you've got a bizarre sense of leadership. If the kid guy something wrong, there are other ways to get your message across. Also, I'm pretty sure the kid could go after his assailant legally had he chosen to do so. I imagine if the circumstances were reversed and Bruce had sucker punched one of our more well-known players, your position and that of others would be quite different.

I agree. There's a lot of ways to motivate people to follow you. I'm not sure that punching someones lights out is the best way to earn the respect needed though.

what does this even mean? That you're against equal rights for minority groups?
Apparently it means you have zero reading comprehension skills as there is nothing stated or implied about either equal rights or minority groups so stop with the tired old tactic of trying to turn everything you may not agree with into racism. I was speaking of those who think a fist fight is the equivalent of murder or the use of nuclear weapons. So unless you are calling men that wear panties a minority group (which I really hope they are), your response makes no sense.

Where is OP with Mamma Bruce's side of the story now?

Bet Joc didn't tell mamma that he popped and attitude and got decked. Guess I'm of the mentality that, if you're the lowest man on the totem pole and you're a greenhorn... you keep your head down and your mouth shut. Bruce certainly isn't entitled to anything and being born a Vol fan doesn't mean anything the second he became a player.

Also, as others have said... and this may be a shock... 18-22 year olds fight. Quite often actually. I wasn't a player at UT but with my background the new guy that thought he was hot sh1t was usually the first to be put down, so to speak. Attitudes from people who haven't done anything and haven't earned it have never been looked upon highly. Can't say I feel bad for Joc if he ran his mouth to a guy that is pushing 240lbs.

And, finally, it's good to see Croom can at least beat somebody.

She spouted some crap about the staff being racist against local players on facebook. Basically tells you about the merits of the Bruce family's argument against UT.

So did racism make him miss class and not do his work? I don't get it. Are his teachers racist as well? Oh wait, it must be the university flag that's racist.

Entirely possible that grammar is also racist.

I waited to read all the responses from people, but you don't owe nobody no explaination at all cause ain't no of these people helping nor feeding you. Anybody with any knowledge of how racist UT is and how they do black local players understands anyway.. Keep your head high and know that certain things happen to GREAT people that are blessings in disguish. The hardest Battles produces the Best Diamonds....
