Also, I think that, iirc, he thought we wouldn't switch from Adidas because at the time, their contract was better and they offered more money outright (which is always true of Adidas).

Correct. During the early Dooley years, he established that Nike wouldn't hold us in as high regard as Adidas kind of had to. I feel like everyone stated that we lost money in the move (initially) but that we'll make it back. And now with the news that we'll be top tier for Nike is huge. Things change. All these wannabe Daily Show workers are combing through everything a reliable person said to see any slip-up or possibly vague comment to discredit him. It's pointless. The only wrong things he's said are things that changed within the department after he went on the record here. It's not that difficult to understand.

It's really not and its pretty sad because he is one of maybe 5 or 6 posters on here that pretty much whatever he says, you can take it to the bank. I said repeatedly and literally for years that there would have to be a substantial change in thinking (like a total leadership change) and that UT would have to take less money (which they did) to switch to Nike. After the Adidas contract twice being extended while I said those things, both eventually happened. When they did, we moved to Nike.

I have never claimed to work in the department. I read here because I enjoy it. I post when I see misinformation and I know enough to correct it.
