But it wouldnt be newsworthy. Ftr, shooting birds at LEO's is the least of my worries. But, I have to imagine they grew up horribly and will probably be another drag on society.

We all know cops are held to a higher standard but after all is said and done they are still human beings....which by nature usually respond adversely to a direct insult...... Using your cashier example...... Guy gives the cashier the bird.... Cashier jumps counter beats ass..... Cashier cannot legally do that..... But guess what? He did.

Should the cop have been fired for pulling the guy over? I'd have been more inclined to fire him for saying he interpreted the gesture to mean the individual needed assistance..... Because he is either being a blatantly sarcastic tool and insulting my intelligence as his supervisor or he's a complete moron...... He should have just fessed up IMO

The only flaw in your analogy is that the cashier doesn't even have to go as far as beating the customer to get fired. Even if the cashier goes back and forth in a profanity filled tirade or even makes threats to a customer, that cashier is likely out of a job. Meanwhile, these Gainesville cops have no worries of being fired.

You are focusing on the consequences suffered by the bird flipper. I'm focusing on the lack of consequences for the cops.

That is not the argument I'm making. I'm saying that a marine or a cop or a civilian that behaves like these cops did while on the clock should be fired. If the put their hands on someone because a bird was flipped, they deserve jail.
