lol. this was pure gold. I had to go back and read it a couple times. from the Brodner thread.
Coach Mason and staff are recruiting better than I expected this off season. I hope they exceed expectations during the fall also.
from BlkGld1999.

I hope they also keep up this level of recruiting.

I can't believe there are people over there that think anything less than 5 wins for that team is a failure. I'm saying with a less talented team and harder schedule than last year if they get more than 3 wins that should be labeled a success

haha i agree. theres a reason these betting sites keep releasing their o/u win total anywhere from 3-3.5 wins

another. hahahaha no.
But from a talent standpoint it shouldn't be that close -- WKU lost to some bad teams last year and was one of the worst defensive teams in the country. They are a slightly more talented and significantly better coached version of ODU
FlyDore03

they are setting themselves up for a lot of hurt.

the level of football intelligence is amazing over there.
It would be a serviceable size to play DE in a 4-3 at 280 lbs but most in a 3-4 scheme your DEs are like 4-3 DTs (roughly 300-310 lbs) and your nose tackle is 320+ lbs.
vandy375. 300lb DE's? am I that bad at understanding a 3-4? I know you want bigger DEs but that is massive.

Mason's press conference after the Mississippi State game last year is priceless. Check out his reaction to the random music that starts playing at :30.

I've also noticed that he is quite possibly the worst public speaker in the SEC. There's zero conviction in his voice. I can't imagine how weak his recruiting pitches and prowess must be in recruits' living rooms.

They sure are. They are acting like all their losses were to top 10 teams barely eeking out a victory

they are completely sold that their performance vs us was the real Vandy team. and that their OC will add 100 yards to their offensive production per game. (those numbers were made up but they are convinced their OC was THE thing holding them back.)

Yeah, no way its the **** players.

or the crap HC. they now have an established DC but no HC, that should work out great. look for more sideline confusion

yep. i know he had a good rep as a DC but its a totally different story when you are the HC as well. The guy is completely lost. Those confused faces he made on the sidelines last yr were priceless. I look for more of the same this yr.

i saw their entire spring game. They could not complete a pass. Seriously. That has nothing to do with the OC and everything to do with the personnel. Robinette took all the Spring reps too and hes gone haha. Same players. Same results. This is the 3rd straight yr with basically the same OL and that OL hasnt been able to produce a good running game yet. Last in the SEC the last 2 yrs. Why would that suddenly change? Like i have said before, they are the easiest offensive team in America to prepare for.

they say he is atleast a 4 star at worst but his offer list is trash lol.

He's not even close to 4-star on any recruiting site. 247 has him as a 3-star, and ranked #995 nationally. To get a 4th star, he'll need to be in the top 300 or so, which would require an epic bump.

And the "4.4 laser-timed 40" just means it's going to be that much more painful when he runs head-on into Kahlil McKenzie.

Any measurables gathered at any Nike opening event need to be taken with a grain of salt since some of those kids test better than NFL 1st round picks, but good luck trying to even mention that over there and not being banned before the day is over

If the OC's plan was too completely ruin the confidence of every QB on the roster by the first 4 games I think he did a bang up job and should have gotten a raise. No matter who they bring in or fire that place will be a dumpster fire for a long time

Here are a few fun facts about Vandy's original benefactor, Cornelius Vanderbilt:

1) He wasn't a commodore, but he did own a shipping company. He encouraged and promoted the use of the term "commodore" to help lease ships to the Union navy during the Civil War.

2) Speaking of the Civil War, the government paid for his ships with government bonds, which were very volatile during the war. He was already well off, but he became a very wealthy man by using insider trading information to illegally manipulate the bond
market during the war, costing taxpayers millions of dollars.

3) Vanderbilt married his first cousin, and they had 13 children. When his first cousin/wife died, he married another cousin who was 45 years younger than him!

Feel free to use these fun facts against all the pompous and entitled Vandy fans who probably don't know that the Vanderbilts were inbred cheaters with no connection to the navy.

I hate Vandy just like everyone else in the world, but you've got to respect what their baseball program has done the past few years. Corbin is a class act.

No thanks.

Vandy can suck my candy.

If you ain't Tennessee, you're last.

I can muster some grace for a loss or two where it appears the staff has a clue and there are obvious improvements.

Come out with two totally disorganized, clueless, deer-in-the-headlights losses with a lot of "huh?" coaching moments, and my patience may wear thin.

I'd like to be able to come out of the first few games saying "we can see what this staff is up to, and it's headed the right direction." There's no reason an experienced OC like Ludwig and an experienced DC like Mason shouldn't be able to come out of the gate looking like there are professionals at the helm.

This is a perfect description of what happened in the Temple game
