I can't believe it! What a scoop! Hyams must have reported this story first. I hadn't heard this before.

According to that article the football uniforms won't be officially unveiled until August 1st? Did I read that right!? July 1st is just the official date that the switch takes effect? Anybody have any clarification there?

I work with a guy who was an athlete for UT within the last 5 years he was a captain on his team and all American and he said Adidas gave them a ton of gear ( meaning more than his other athlete friends at other schools that have Nike or UA) however he said the product was sub par to other brands of athletic gear. He said shoes fell apart quickly, clothes got holes and prints fade.

I personally think in the last couple years Adidas has stepped up and done some pretty cool alternate unis, their cleats, gloves and fan gear have all improved looks wise. It's been said and "new" makes you feel different. Even if the colors, fabrics/materials and quality are barely any different, the brand and newness is what will be the big difference to the players.

As far as fan gear goes I just think Nike makes better looking stuff period. I do hate the price tag though!

Anyway, though the coworker opinion was interesting

Consecutive top 5 recruiting classes. Kids must like what we have now. Uniforms are over rated. Alabama and Ohio State have basic uniforms and attract kids by hiring top coaches. Meanwhile, here at UT our fans are a bunch of fashionistas.

I think that great player development and better game day coaching decisions with this talent will make everyone forget about changing uniforms.

Great post. I 100% agree with you.
