Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

I would like to see black pants added as an occasional option with away white jerseys.

I would also like to see us add a chrome orange helmet with a white power T on it as an occasional option.

I think any appearance of any T in any trademark, spelling or Tennessee, logo or jersey should always and forever be the power T. It IS our trademark and any change to that is foolish.

Black pants with our white tops would look terrible. Arizona State can pull it off though because they have black trim on their white jerseys. Arizona State probably has my favorite jerseys right now. They have so many combinations and I love the look of them all. Besides, nothing is going to be black for us

The idea of an orange helmet has been shot down because of the nightmare of matching the orange; adding chrome to the equation only makes it worse.

In other words, not gonna happen unless they figure out how to make an orange helmet work.

A good shade matcher can do it. I know because I have done that kind of work.

Yeah... I'm sure it's just because our athletic department hasn't tried a good shade matcher yet....

Very blue font:)

Edit- sorry Govols... I'm not usually a smarta$$ but I just couldn't help myself on that one:)

I would have gave you a like but you apologized and mentioned blue font which almost earned you a dislike. Freak does not allow dislikes so I will pray for your soul.(after Devante's knee.)

Using the picture from the basketball court I think the full wordmark will look something like this. I didn't put enough spacing between the letters, but general idea.

Looks good. 2nd N isn't the same as the rest though, wonder if that's on purpose?

That's the way it is on the court. My guess is that if the top of the letter is horizontal like an E, T or S then the next letter will have the angled top left corner. Otherwise (like N, I, H, etc) that corner will be square. That is why'd made the middle E to be squared on the top corner.

Ahhh, I gotcha.

What evidence do you have that they have even tried at all? You act like this is rocket science or something. Even Lowe's can match a paint color to any type of material you can walk in there with.

I'm all for change....but this isn't very good, imo. Looks too futuristic.

So lowes could exactly match carpet, tile, walls and drapes without any variation at all?

It's not about matching the shade, that's easy.

It's about matching how the shade appears on different materials. Then, coming up with a way for those materials to appear to be the same color under different lights. A helmet (or jerseys, or pants, or jackets, or t-shirts) may all be coated in he same color, but once you put them under direct sunlight, every surface will appear slightly different.

Now, every school and professional team has this problem, but most colors are dark enough that it's too slight of a difference for most people to notice. With how light our orange is, any reaction to bright lights stands out.

Agreed

Those that can't envision it often try to poo poo a new and innovative idea. Then once they see it done correctly, those sample people love it. I experience this frequently with my wife.
