Flat out quality of songs, I think he's close. Townes Van Zandt had a handful of songs I'd prefer to any of Dylan's, but he wasted most of his life drunk and on drugs, writing virtually nothing for long stretches.

Is his stuff on iTunes? I've always heard people talk about him and he actually died near Nashville but never heard him.

I don't know anything about itunes. Willie Nelson did his song Ponchoo and Lefty. I like Tecumseh Valley and Rake, the most.

I'll see if I can download them. I have several of Willie's CD's but don't think I have the one with Poncho and Lefty. I have Stardust and the recent one I bought was his recordings with Johnnie Cash. With my stereo it is like you are live.

My aunt told me she was amazed at how good Willie was live. Townes was usually awful live. I read a story about him spending the majority of his set howling like a dog, laughing his ass off.

No, but I do think they sang that in some of their concerts together. I've heard it but don't remember it specifically.

That CD of Johnnie and Willie is from a live concert. On my stereo they are excellent. I love that CD. You can hear (feel) them fretting their guitars.

Agree on 4 way street. I call his voice unique, not crappay
I would rather hear him than Dylan sing. Dylan makes me cringe.

I gained a deep appreciation for Dylan's (and a lot of other people's) voice after I got into writing/playing music. Even if you have a decent voice, its not going to work for every song.

Yeah, Roy Acuff used to sing that song. Think I heard him sing it on the Porter Wagoner show. My Dad used to watch that show all the time.

Willie does a great job of those old Cole Porter songs on the Stardust album. Very well recorded.

I'm not very musical at all but love to listen. My son is only 15 but an outstanding guitarist. Get's that from my wife.

I was pretty mean on guitar. I played some kind of rock/country/bluegrass mix. Haven't touched one for more than a few minutes in years. It was my life for a good while but I guess I kind of associate it with being strung out and all messed up.

The only song Dylan did that I liked was Knocking on Heavens Door.
That was a classic.
