It happens, you never know when a young tendon will pop. He maybe wasn't showing out. Maybe he was just going hard and a weight room injury happened. That's what I think happened.

Though he won't be a factor for spring camp, we are told that Darrin Kirkland Jr. is progressing very well from his pectoral injury and is believed to be a bit ahead of pace in his rehab.

Then you had a player like Darrin Kirkland, Jr. who made a personal commitment to stay in Knoxville to continue to rehab but also to meet with coaches and do extra film study. Clearly, Kirkland sees a real opportunity to possibly win the middle linebacker job.

Just different animals in my book. They look to be a good tandem at different positions.

they are different players. Bates needs to be outside and Kirkliand is a true MLB. Bates can really run though. So its apple and oranges comparing them IMO.
