To Protect and to Serve...

Instead of tomatoes, you would actually have a more sound argument and more support if you said white sugar or corn syrup.

I picked something healthy, because I was wondering if he would play the health card. All he was saying was "they're illegal, and their legalitiy shouldn't be questioned". So I wanted to see if he thought my hypothetical tomatoe example shouldn't be questioned either.

Does that seriously make sense to you (the tax dollar statement)? Im not trying to be a smartass just asking a legit question.

It doesn't make any sense at all.

Neither does putting a 12th stent in a guy's heart after he continues to smoke cigarettes. Or prividing ventilatory support to the CHFer who's admitted 3-4 a year in respiratory failure cause they stopped taking their lasix cause it made them pee too much. What about the idiot being admitted for 8th time in DKA (his A1c is 13.2) but he swears he's controlling his blood sugar at home. The guy with hepatic failure who still drinks a liter of whiskey every day and is back with a GI bleed and encephalopathy. The COPDer who keeps smoking. The 500 lb lady in respiratory failure again cause her dumbass "doesn't like" her cpap while sleeping. The end stage renal failure guy who skipped dialysis twice and how has to be admitted for emergent dialysis or CRRT.

Should I keep going?

Cop was out of control and arrested as a result..... Once again being a dumbass puts a guy in a bad position....no excuse for the flying knee though

Their motto is to protect and to serve. If a cop can't protect a guy (even a guy that walks out on a $60 bar tab), then is he really doing his job?

What difference does it make if he was a dumbass? Does that give the cops a license to abuse?

We're paying for all that. Well at least the stuff Medicare hasn't found a loophole to avoid reimbursing for. Those cost are just absorbed by the hospital. I'm sure one of the many reasons we're severely underpaid.

That seems to be his contribution to the thread. He basically shows up and regurgitates the same irrelevant argument every time there's a new incident. It used to annoy me but know I find it kind of cute.

Theree are plenty of other things we could ban using these guys logic. Lets take another stab at prohibiting alcohol, for example.

Lets see what the authoritarians have to say about that. Or corn syrup, white sugar, some of these prescribed meds, tobacco, cheese, peanuts, shellfish, pork, etc.

He got fired and arrested and I wasn't justifying his actions..... Why is this so hard for you to comprehend? You act as if I back the cops regardless of the situation. Go back through the thread and I think you'll see I've been objective. Did you happen to notice I said the cop was out of control and that the knee was uncalled for?
As far as the dimbass part...... It's ALWAYS a dumbass getting victimized....ALWAYS

How could anyone ever make such a mistake?

What's wrong with turning the water cannons on a bunch of idiots who had nothing to do with the original protest?

A person's property rights don't disappear just because a mob with a grievance (real or imagined) shows up and starts throwing bricks through windows.

Instead of looking at the effects, how about we address the cause of the riot. What was the original criminl charge to begin with?

Yeah I use to think they were worried about a higher sense of liberty and freedom but I now realize that the guys on this board are just pissed bc they can't use drugs legally lol

Shouldn't everyone do with their life as they choose? As long as they aren't hurting anyone?

For the record, I don't use narcotics of any kind.

Yeah... I drink alcohol a couple of times a week but that's it. It's funny because he has absolutely nothing to back up that idiotic statement. I've come to expect nothing less though.

For what it's worth...

I've known your stance was based off ignorance and hypocrisy from the beginning.

The hypocrisy of the do-gooder is always funny, "don't smoke weed or do coke!" Never mind the pack of smokes in my pocket or this coffee I'm drinking.... Those aren't real drugs right....

Yeah I bet u do....just some of the things I have heard in the past few days: they shouldn't enforce driving laws, people shouldn't have to have car insurance, dads shouldn't have to support their kids....this site has gone nuts....please tell me where I have been hypocritical.

I don't do either of those things....I'm torn on the drug issue.....the war on drugs is a huge failure but I also see what drugs do to people and families....I'm not sold on what the answer should be.

Now look, I can handle your "drugs for everyone" stance, but if you start messing with my coffee, it's on.

And if you take away my doughnuts, I can guarantee you it'll be an all out war.

I think you're missing the point. At the end of the day, it's about reclaiming words. Have you ever read 1984 by Orwell? If not I'd highly suggest you do.

It used to be that a "crime" was against a person or property. In other words, there had to be a victim. Today, that's not the case, the myriad of over reaching laws we have, Ras has done an excellent job of pointing most of these out. It's truly staggering the laws on the books now. You will claim it's to make us safe, but are we really a people now that prefer security to liberty? Insert Franklin quote about security over liberty here.

This country isn't only on the wrong path, it's headed for a disastrous end.
