He is trying to decide between DeBord and Clawson.

Oh NOOOOOOOOOO! If this is true this is not good. UM's "O" is so much like ours it is scary. We need a breath of fresh air not stale old crappy smelling air. Just say no to Debord and yes to Mr Clawson. Please.

OMG....You guys are gamblers...WE ARE UT we hire guys after they are discovered. Let Clawson go coach in the MAC or something and hire him later if he is really that good. He is not even the best coach in his lower division.

It's really a tough call. Both have positives and negatives.

DeBord will likely bring along Loeffler and Mallett. Loeffler is an awesome coach and a great recruiter. He definitely could help out in playcalling. Mallett could be a great QB at UT. DeBord could also coach WRs and that would round out the offensive staff. He also has experience at the BCS level. His offenses are dull and not very risk-taking, though. He has had a really bad string of luck with injuries in the past couple years, though. CPF also has had a good relationship with Carr so this is comfortable with him. He is also a decent recruiter.

Clawson, on the other hand, is good buddies with Drayton. He is a great offensive mind, but no bigtime experience. He would also likely take QBs. That means no Loeffler or Mallett. Bringing him in would be a better decision coaching-wise. I have no idea if he can recruit. We would also need to hire another coach, either WR or RB(Drayton could take either).

It really is a tough call. I guess it depends on who we bring in with Clawson, if we were to bring him in. Say we were looking at an average coach/average recruiter with him. I'd give recruiting edge to the Michigan guys but the coaching edge to Clawson and the other guy. Mallett is a nice toss-in, but he isn't guaranteed(though likely) and the decision shouldn't be based on him.

Another thing to consider is if it affects bringing Steele in. I don't think either would, but, if either one would block that move, then I'd take the other.

Different sources, but mostly Rivals. You just have to weed through the rumors. Some guys are credible, some aren't so credible.

No, DeBord definitely interviewed for OC.

Yeah, Clawson is likely using this as a stepping-stone. Loeffler could be a future OC. Remember, he may be the best coach of the 3 and the best recruiter as well. He just isn't in the running for OC because of no experience.

Like I said, you have to weed through the sources. GoVolsXtra is horrible, as is Scout. They are either way to early on a story and it ends up being false or they are way late on it.

I think we are looking at Loeffler as QB coach and Co-OC with Debord. Isn't Loeffler being offerred OC position at UCLA? We would have to match that.

I'm not sure if he is or not. I think they are a package deal for us if we want them. I don't know if CPF likes the idea of Co-OCs, though.

On a side note, Hubbs believes we may know something by Friday afternoon. He didn't say it would happen for sure. Not a prediction, just a thought.

I mean, maybe it could be Loeffler as QBC and passing coordinator with DeBord as RBC and rushing coordinator and Drayton taking WRs.

Fulmer isn't afraid to lay down the whip if Debord doesn't perform as OC. Basically if you get Loeffler and Debord you get better recruiting, a 5 star qb, and stability. Hiring Clawson is a risk, but if he is great, he may either go elsewhere to head coach, or replace Fulmer when he retires. As far as I'm concerned, I see it as about even, but I'm sure Fulmer will make a good decision based on their interviews. This is an extremely important offseason, so Fulmer needs to make the right choice or there will be major horrible consequenses.

No chance on Hatcher or Malzahn ?..........

I do not think so these guys will accept if offered so no round three. I think in a round three if they all reject we go after Gus the guy who should of been number one in
my mind. But, I am getting excited as long as it is not Clawson by his lonesome.

If Debord and Loeffler come in and coach like they did in the bowl game with our talent then I say go with them, that was an exciting offense to watch.

That game would have been a bigger blowout if Hart doesnt lay the ball down three or so times.
