It's really a tough call. Both have positives and negatives.
DeBord will likely bring along Loeffler and Mallett. Loeffler is an awesome coach and a great recruiter. He definitely could help out in playcalling. Mallett could be a great QB at UT. DeBord could also coach WRs and that would round out the offensive staff. He also has experience at the BCS level. His offenses are dull and not very risk-taking, though. He has had a really bad string of luck with injuries in the past couple years, though. CPF also has had a good relationship with Carr so this is comfortable with him. He is also a decent recruiter.
Clawson, on the other hand, is good buddies with Drayton. He is a great offensive mind, but no bigtime experience. He would also likely take QBs. That means no Loeffler or Mallett. Bringing him in would be a better decision coaching-wise. I have no idea if he can recruit. We would also need to hire another coach, either WR or RB(Drayton could take either).
It really is a tough call. I guess it depends on who we bring in with Clawson, if we were to bring him in. Say we were looking at an average coach/average recruiter with him. I'd give recruiting edge to the Michigan guys but the coaching edge to Clawson and the other guy. Mallett is a nice toss-in, but he isn't guaranteed(though likely) and the decision shouldn't be based on him.
Another thing to consider is if it affects bringing Steele in. I don't think either would, but, if either one would block that move, then I'd take the other.
