I've seen his name thrown around several times as a wish list candidate several times.... why couldn't it be him?

I would say he has appeared a bit overrated since his time at usc to me. Also, I'm not sure that he would leave the NFL to come back to college and a team that is behind the team that he left.

How about Mike Martz---he's still out of a job and needs some cash.

I would question the sanity of anyone who accepted a 70% pay cut to take a job that forced them to work a lot harder.

While I admit money is a big motivator, it is not the end all be all of a job... I think UT could definitely put together a package for him that might entice him back to college.

I think he would be more interested in a HC job at Hawaii than OC at UT. Money isn't everything, and for most people in the country, Coaching for the Vols isn't.

Just because most of us would jump at a chance to coach on the hill, doesn't mean that it the Norm (pun intended).

Ding!

The only reason I would see him leaving the Titans is because of personal differences between him and VY. They are making a pretty big deal out of the comments aired during the indy game from Chow.

Hawaii isn't UT... what is their football budget?

You said yourself, money isn't everything. Hawaii/Utah/California are home to Norm Chow.

They offered June Jones $800k/yr to stay, for what it is worth.

And as successful as he was there, he didn't stay. I think the job in Hawaii is a lot of work due to the smaller budget and the problems with recruiting. I said that money isn't everything, but the facilities and support of the University to the program is important... I would think the stress there would be pretty high. UT OC job >> Hawaii HC job, but I am bias :)

Oh, and Hi, I'm fairly new to the board!

jones was offered 1.6 mil. and a head coaching job at hawaii is better than being the OC at tenn.

The way I understand it they basically refused to negotiate with June Jones then he said he was leaving and that is when they tried to get him to stay.

The AD of Hawaii may be looking for a new job real soon.

Now there's a nice rumor....

ESPN - Jones' departure throws Hawaii program into chaos - College Football

Hawaii's president would like to see it. He was mentioned by name at the end of the paragraph.

Jone's helped Hawaii to realize they can be successful, and the AD is being forced out so they can make a commitment to improve facilities there.

Personally, I would pick OC at UT in a heartbeat, but Norm has no ties to UT. He does have strong ties to Hawaii however.

Welcome to the board . . . I still think you have lost your mind. :p

I get that a lot! Where you at in GA, GAVol? God I hate UGA fans! Most everyone in my neighborhood has the red/black flying outside their houses, I got quite a few nasty looks at my UT flag this year.
