OOPS .. SORRY! Did I step on your toes? LOL! Im sure I just lost a lot of BP fans but HEY, I tried to keep it simple but ppl like to push buttons and he pushed the right one!
I like you too but I understand! LOL:good!:
LOLlol:
I loved Bruce as much as the next guy, but...
You claim to be a UT basketball fan, and you think Pearl is more beloved than Ray Mears?
I'm a Vols fan...he did a lot of good for my team...he's not coming back and most of us know that and are more than ok with it. I supported Martin (without much to back it up) until he left...doing the same with Tyndall...if he's forced out I'll back his successor...it's what we do. I think someone throwing the word "idiot" at you got you unduly riled up. Attacking Pearl was your recourse. You didn't "step on my toes"...you got a little spit in my eyes.inch:
I think Bruce is definitely more "beloved" among the younger fans, simply because he was the first really successful coach in their lifetime.
I'm 27 and, while I'm aware of the tremendous contributions that Ray Mears had on Tennessee basketball, it's hard for me to "love" him because I wasn't around to experience it.
Not trying to argue who's the greatest or best, just giving some perspective.
IKR! All because I am outspoken and have my own opinion about a man NONE OF US have a personal relationship with and knows his feelings. We all just speculate about how he feels. Of course, I would get on TV and say I LOVE TENN.! Especially if I aspire to be a coach at another D1 college! I wouldn't DARE get on TV and show HATRED towards another D1 college! Others are watching his CHARACTER. No one really knows what he feels! So, why did I have to be on CRYSTAL METH or ILITERATE or an IDIOT? UNCALLED FOR!!!!
I'm 45...Mears was great...Pearl didn't take anything away from that by doing great also.
That's kind of what I was trying to get at; "love" is a more emotional connection whereas "greatness" is a more a measure of coaching results.
I don't deny Mears's greatness (if you said he was a greater coach than Pearl I wouldn't argue), but I personally have a much stronger personal connection to the era of Tennessee basketball that I actually got to witness for myself. I think we're on the same page.
I would support the hire of bruce pearl, like it or not the man can coach. People forget where he took the vols basketball program. He like butch jones are the face of the vols when you think about each program. People makes mistake and he has paid his dues, now bring him back

Exactly who has forgotten where Pearl took the program?
I love these drive-by posts that not only post what's been said over and over, but acts like they are actually pointing out things we didn't know.
