O-Line Starting 5 Predictions

Swain just said he thinks Richmond starts at LT... Tifwiw, jmo, irs, uoeno, sob, tcb, stfu, byob, bff, brb, omg, idk, fubar....

Sounds like a built in excuse. Everyone knows you can't win in the SEC with a freshman at LT... the Vols will be lucky to make a bowl game (and Jones will deserve COY if they do). Of course next year, UT will have lost a bunch of Srs... and everyone knows you can't lose that many experienced players and win in the SEC. Then at some point, there will come that magic year when every position two deep is manned by a 3rd, 4th, or 5th year player... but everyone knows you can't be expected to win with the uncertainty and challenges you face in college football.

Only an idiot would be foolish enough to think you should have an expectation of winning, right?

You're too hard on yourself sometimes.

Sometimes not enough.

Based on everything we've heard the past few days, right now it's looking pretty much like:

LT -- Kerbyson / Jones / (with Richmond incoming)
LG -- Jackson / Wiesman
C -- Crowder / Thomas
RG -- Robertson / Sanders
RT -- Kendrick / Hall / Thomas / (with Richmond incoming)

Still all of spring and summer to go, though, a lot could change before September.

Dobbs better get life insurance if these are starting tackles

In light of the hype surrounding Blair's recruitiment, he may end up as big a bust as Brian Darden? At least Blair can move on after next season to open up another scholarship.

For me, I like seeing the 3 seniors in the middle (Jackson, crowder, Kerbyson). I could see the coaches trying to redshirt guys like Thomas and Robertson how weren't completely ready for SEC play last year. Don't get me wrong, Robertson had a tremendous year last year as a true freshman, but there were definitely times he was exposed by stronger DLs.
Robertson was Freshman AA and Thomas was overpowered most of the time need big improvement from him the year in the weight room will help, we need Richmond or Jones to grow up quick.

Butch already said he will start out at DT, and I expect Mosley and Khalil McKenzie to be our 2 starting DT's when the season rolls around.

I sure don't see where you're getting all the Mosley love from? It was communicated multiple times when he arrived last year that he was a 3* overweight project. He gets a broken leg in an accident so he couldn't have participted fully in the S&G program yet now he's going to displace our 2 returning starting DT's along with one of our 5* DT recruits?

Really hoping your right as this would be a great surprise, but I don't see where the optimism is coming from concerning Mosley?

Well, 247 has a bunch of morons then if they truly believe we are moving our RS SR LG, who was an all-SEC freshman LG, to LT.

Agreed. And I cant find that on 247.

Anybody that thinks Jackson is moving outside is deranged. Blair and Kerbyson at tackle, Jackson
and Robertson at guard, and a much meaner Crowder in the middle.

Crowder needs to improve or be replaced.. Could not ha dow anyone last year over the nose

:lolabove: That's just not true at all. I think he led the team in knockdowns several games last year. You have a hair lip for him?

It's time for true Vol fans to start standing up for some of our starters (especially on the o-line) who everyone knew needed to jell last year. Biopsy it Folks like you who try and get negative stuff started. How about holding back a little bit this year until we see where we are?

I am only commenting based on what I saw on the field..

Blair was on the scout team. Didn't even crack the 1st or 2nd rotation. Either Butch is sending a message or he just isn't the answer.

Kendrick at LT and Kerbyson moving to RT is a real possibility. Would make Kerbyson look a lot better.

I never really understood why Kendrick didn't get more of a shot last year. He looked the most athletic of all the guys they tried at either OT spot.

Dobbs was in exact same situation and you can't say it's because he was worse than the 2 guys ahead of him. It appears that CBJ knows things we don't know about the timing of who to play when.

Very unlikely. For one thing, the scheme basically calls for a big DT and a smaller, quicker DT. Beyond that, experience and physical development count more than you seem to think. I would not be surprised to see McKenzie start. I would be very surprised to see Moseley or Tuttle in the two deep and would not be surprised if Tuttle gets a RS.

Based on what we know right now, we're probably looking at some combination of Vickers, O'Brien, KM, and O Williams.

I think Mixon has been moved back outside but he could move back inside for passing downs.

Not really. Blair took his RS last year. Dobbs was on the scout team after they decided to RS him. It took the staff no time at all to move him up past Peterman once Worley was hurt.
