CBJ is relentless...

“We lost to Florida last year, and I was as down as I’ve ever been in my career for about two hours after the game,” Jones said. “I didn’t leave the stadium for two hours."

This is what I like to see.. CBJ will not let this happen again, can guarantee that!

You can forget about us beating Florida! each year, we get our hopes up and try to convince ourselves that this is the yer to beat Florida. Then once we lose, it is awful quiet on here.

I hope not because it was inexcusable n hopefully hart chewed his butt out n that's why he stayed behind to lick his wounds.

Also I believe it was that game he knew he had to have a new oc.imo

Is it that hard to type and?

One has to put the past in the past and strive to make the future much better. Those who waller in the their misery, stay in their misery. Rise above it and move on.

That wasn't my point, which I was making kinda tongue in cheek. Was just pointing out what an absolutely horrific, inexcusable loss that was. Of course he has to put it behind him and move on....but after watching 10 consecutive losses myself, I was thinking that pitiful loss deserved more than 2 hours of wallowing.....I'm thinking 6-8 hours curled up in the corner minimum😁

:lolabove: Dooley worked hard at what? It sure didn't have anything to do with football. You know he did lose to Kentucky when they had a WR playing QB. :banghead2:

The entire game was a trick play.
We just got fooled.......continually.

We should have put in 13 guys against them.

You may be having a hard time with the difference between working hard and being successful. I do believe Dooley worked hard. Unfortunately, the job was over his head.

Dooley started off working hard but lost the respect of everyone and then just started mailing it in. He gave up without a fight.

Any person trying to defend that guy needs their head examined. Let's just forget about the past and enjoy the better times ahead.

yea that pretty much says it all ! :good!:

Jones is obviously much better at his job than Dooley was. That being said I believe dooley worked hard for UT while he was here.

holly crap ! so when is Vonation going to start the drug testing program ?

I will have to book mark this post, because no matter what stupid post I make I can always pull this one up & remind myself there is always a more stupid response one.

Well....for one he had a HUGE hand in the design of our new training facility that the recruits rave about. That should not be overlooked. Facilities make a big impact in recruiting. Obviously he fell short on wins...but the man did work hard for our university.

Worked hard at a lot of things that don't matter. And sunk our program even further by not recruiting, pissing off all the past lettermen, and being a lousy FOOTBALL COACH in general. It's taken damn near an exorcism for Butch to undo what Dooley did.

Only 2 hours? After that horrible loss I would've thought he'd have waited much later to slink back over to the facilities unnoticed.

In his speech he said he stayed for two hours but left because he knew he had to put on a good face since he was hosting 12 recruits that evening. That just shows how relentless he is.

Look, I'm a Butch fan, behind him 100%....only used his quote to find yet another way to vent my "we lost yet again to Florida" frustration. No one should question his work ethic and dedication to rebuilding this program and remark was certainly not intended to do so.

I like this quote:

“We lost to Florida last year, and I was as down as I’ve ever been in my career for about two hours after the game,” Jones said. “I didn’t leave the stadium for two hours.

“Then I got dressed with my coat and tie, went home because we were hosting 12 prospective student-athletes. I got there, and my wife was emotionally drained and my kids had been crying all night. I had to go in there and be a salesman for my program when I didn’t feel like it to be honest with you. But we had a good time.”

With Butch, what we are seeing is what it takes to build and execute a program in this day and age. It takes understanding of today's teenager, many of whom feel entitled, as well as communicating within the media age. Sad to say, if you can't communicate an idea in seconds then you are not communicating. When Butch came to Tennessee, the program had some big off-the-field problems to solve -- financing and team academic issues to be eligible for even playing in a bowl, providing the record was 6-6. Hart had to start with the finances. I recall Dave Hart saying when he hired Butch that he was impressed with him because he came to him with a well defined plan. I think Butch is outperforming many others in the coaching profession today. He is relentless because he needs to be and his PR machine is outstanding. I buy all the now clichés that Butch has fed us -- Brick by Brick, Rise to the Top. And I think the program is on the precipice of returning to what it was and historically has been - an elite college football team.

Dooley MAY have worked hard, but he certainly didn't work smart. Before you can expect your team to give their all for Tennessee, you have to win their minds and hearts. Dooley did not possess (or if he did he chose not to use them) the people skills to get his players to buy in to whatever he was selling.

Don't think he did either

No. It's not quiet. There's always noise; not only breaking glass and crying babies as CBJ mentioned, but the noise of losers such as your ilk decrying never ending doom and gloom. What's going to be your form of breaking glass or a crying baby once we've drained the swamp? As for you, KB: bUTch doesn't slink anywhere. GBO!

Dooley walked into an awful situation, and didn't do much to turn it around..

Maybe he changed the spin of going down the toilet from clockwise to counterclockwise, but it continued to go down under his leadership (I use that term loosely)
