Frank Cignetti in town to be interviewed...

The spread forces more one on one situations with your athletes versus theirs. If the D player misses an open field tackle it is a big gain. WV ran all over OU with it.

Of course, if the D has the superior athletes, you're kinda screwed. See: Hawaii vs. Georgia, 2008 Sugar Bowl

I think this would be a solid hire. Maybe not a home run, but a definite upgrade, some fresh blood that's "outside the family" for once with some different ideas and a different philosophy. I like the power running game as much as anyone, but the SEC is no longer a run-first-ask-questions-later conference. Hell, not even the Big 10 is. Nationwide, tons of points are scored; all kinds of offensive records are being broken - defense is taking a beating across the board. You HAVE to put points on the board to win consistently, and sometimes that involves putting them up quickly, and that, my friends, involves throwing the ball down the field.

The more I've read about him... the more I like him.

One of UNC's players called him a mad man for being so energetic on the practice field. He's apparently very intense but good with players. Demands execution but earns success.

Sounds like the kind of personality that would be a great recruiter... especially with CPF as his straight man.

I love what he said about the dink and dunk and its place. He wants to go vertical.

BTW, he believes in a strong running game.

Compared to the rest that have been mentioned publicly... I think he's the closest to a homerun.

Any truth to the rumor that Cignetti and Loeffler were recommended to Fulmer by the Mannings (Peyton and Archie)?

Well, Hubbs has been wrong but right now he is saying that he is hearing Cignetti to Cal as OC. He is trying to get confirmation, but it isn't looking good there for now.

Dont they already have Jim Michalczik as OC?

Yeah, that's what alot of posters are asking about. Very strange. Tedford doesn't like other playcallers anyways.

Yeah, but that's what he blamed his offense's problems on from 2006. Well, didn't look like they did much better this year.

I'll be shocked if Trooper was back. Then again, I can't think of an outcome that wouldn't shock me at this point.

Would you be shocked it Troop showed up on Okie States practice field with his cap turned the right way?

If Pee Wee Herman gets the job, I will never watch college football again...........

The Cal board indicates right now that it may be Trent Dilfer. I would think Cignetti would like to get back to the East Coast if he has ties here (PA) and it would be a more competitive Conference. Just to be honest better football than the West...

No way Trooper is coming back. His office is cleared. His family has moved. He's wished everyone in Knoxville good luck. He's gone.

It does seem more and more like Adkins is gonna be the guy. Very upsetting if it goes down like this.

Chris Low says that now way, no how is anyone on the current staff being promoted to OC for what it's worth.
