Ukraine Protests

This is like watching a train wreck.

The only exception is that one particular party intends it.

I really think Merkel wants to fix this and through peaceful diplomatic means. She's known Putin the longest and has always had a decent relationship with Putin. The past two years have changed her opinion of him with Putin doing things to spite her and even in public. I see her as the friend in the group who just wants to give it one more try and insists he can be turned around and saved while in the back of her mind she sees there is no hope. Hollande has his own internal issues and is just riding along to remain relevant. As for Cameron, he has elections coming up. He's laying low and keeping his mouth shut hoping to get reelected. And hoping Merkel resolves this.

Do not take a lack of certain people at specific events as some sign of a change in direction. Look at strikes on Libya. And with Syria. And now with ISIS. You have varying combinations of those out front each different event. If you saw the same combinations repeatedly you may be on to something. The US was not directly involved for specific reasons - one being Putin using us as an excuse. We had passive Hollande and then Merkel who has no negative reputation on the subject. It's debate club. Depending on the subject and the opponent your line up is slightly different.

Why would we involve ourselves in that? When it unravels, and it will, we can sit back and laugh at the French and Germans for being so naive.

All I can say is that while France, Russia and Germany were talking peace, the Americans were trying to push weapons into Kiev.

The most remarkable thing about that is that Russia cannot build its own ships.

Posted an article earlier about the death of the Russian Navy in the next few years. Most of their large surface fleet is due to be decommissioned because of the large expense Russia would have to pay to keep them sea worthy. It also mentioned that Russian shipbuilding will not be able to keep up with demand as they start taking ships out of service.

Sounds like a country that simply doesn't have the will or the ability to make the necessary investments to build up a war machine.

Poroshenko wanted it. Minsk I did this. Poroshenko wanted that enforced. Putin wanted the delay. Not sure if you saw the news stories claiming Poroshenko 'stormed out' or not. He didn't storm out. He made a call to his Defense chiefs. A few tweets right after this put the delay and his call together to deduce he was telling his people to brace for it. Giving Putin and Russian forces over two more days and hearing the threats against Debaltseve, he knew this meant bad news for those on the frontlines.

Yep.

Putin tried to delay Ukraine ceasefire deal, EU summit told | World news | The Guardian

Russian president said to have wanted to delay truce by 10 days in order to force surrender of Ukrainian troops at key rail hub

Poroschenko is on the clock, imo. There are already stories of Ukrainians ignoring draft notices and not wanting to fight. Their already weak economy has been diminished even more in the last 8 months. I'm not sure he will survive another 12 months without either the people of Ukraine pushing him out or the western corporate interests getting upset and impatient with his progress in the east.

Do you know for a fact Merkel is frustrated with Putin or are you assuming? I can see the reason for assuming she's had it with Putin, but I would think she'd be just as pissed at the country that bugged her office and is spying on her emails.

I've been trying to blow up Tuscaloosa with the highest yield possible, but it won't let me navigate to anywhere other than the preset cities.

Thanks, Grand. I don't know why the one I linked is so crappy, even though it's by the same dude.

Anyhow, I finally got to blow up Tuscaloosa. To keep it somewhat realistic though, I decided to go with a Russian Topol. Besides, everyone knows that even Russians hate Alabama fans.

130,000 casualties ain't too shabby. We definitely won't have to worry about the Crimson Tide anymore.
