Is the AJ rape trial considered off-topic for this thread? I'm not trying to be a smart a$$. I'm just wondering where the line is drawn.

At least take this ish to the off topic thread. Literally one thread down.

This thread started with so much promise after the debacle that XVI turned into......now between this thread, and the Sawyers thread, the RF is turning into one big "morals" dumpster fire.

What do you expect? We have 355 days until we sign more players. That leaves us with weed, rape, and abstinence to talk about. I'm hoping that abortion and gay marriage come up soon.

I guess this whole accusation of rape thing is a touchy subject because I have an actual example of a woman throwing out "I was raped" in a court setting to try and get her way.

My Dad's Ex wife tried to claim he raped her to get custody of my older brother when they divorced, she didn't know that my dad had hired a private investigator to tail her to get proof of her infidelity though. My dad was a great man so he was able to fix his image after such slander, but people do throw around false allegations like and it can forever ruin most people.

OK, I will grant your wish. Same sex marriage is now legal in Alabama. This means a guy can now marry his brother instead of his sister.

Thank you. I hope no one takes my comments out of context. I was merely stating how great the housing market has become in Murfreesboro and in no way was I boasting. The housing market in this area is insane right now. Anyone selling a home would have results I posted.

I am very blessed and I know who I have to thank for that.

In order to prove you weren't boasting, you should buy me 2 season tickets.

At the risk of getting bashed for being "radical"/"backwards"/"unrealistic"/"a prude", and at the risk of being the instigator of a thread derail....

....perhaps if people followed God's Will of abstinence until marriage, many if not all of these rape/assault allegations would stop.

There are many reasons to abstain from sex until marriage; however, to prevent yourself from becoming a rapist isn't one. If people would follow the law, and not rape other people, then all of these rape allegations would stop.

How will a rapist put off having sex until marriage, when he or she can't wait until the next consentual opportunity presents itself?

I'll say one thing to this and leave it be.

If the rape is true, then they should simply buy the daughter from the father for silver just as Deuteronomy says to do. And yes, if New Testament is used so is Old testament, can't cherry pick morality.

See why using a 2000 year old book with rules based on cultural and social opinions of the time doesn't work today?

Ok Daloth. I believe you and I have discussed God/Bible in the past. And I feel pretty sure nothing I say will change your mind.

And I might should just let this go (For one reason, mods will probably move it anyways. Ha)

But to your point about Cherry-picking, this is 100 % not that. I know pointing out the OT laws is a tactic employed by atheists/agnostics trying to show how old and strange they are, and so try to discredit the Bible or more specifically Its followers that don't follow them.

But the Bible quite clearly says we are to no longer follow the old law. Only the new law.

Ok. We'll see how long this lasts in this thread. I hardly ever go to the off-topic thread.

Go Vols. Go Debord. Go ADHD threads.

Agreed, you have some women that are actual victims, and they have my whole support to do whatever it takes to put the person that raped them under the jail as far as I'm concerned.

Then you have women that make false claims, looking for a pay day, and I feel they need to be punished also. Even though the person they make the false claim didn't do anything, their lives are still changed forever.

This is a funny Chappelle show skit, but if this really happened, it would make these cases more clear cut.

As far as legitimate rapists who have issues and are criminals and seek out opportunities to commit rape, that may be a separate issue.

But I guess one of my main points was if sex had not taken place, there would be no accusation - true or false - to be made

Self-control is key. I know that's something we don't seem to be teaching our kids in this self-indulgent, hedonistic, instant gratification society we are in.

Saw you are from MJ. Probably go to the same church lol.

Nah, If someone comes in and throws out something not intelligent around, and it gets ten times the likes as a logical post (such as the guy later who said drinking age should be lowered because studies show in countries that have 18 the rape/drinking problems get reduced) then it deserves to be called out.

It's terrifying that there are people who think bad things happen to people because they don't listen to a thousands year old book that has more nudity, incest, murder, and violence, than the most terrible NC-17 movie or smut book ever made.

Our problem is we live in a society where things like rape don't get treated seriously enough (see, FSU) and women are terrified to report it for fear of being ignored or ashamed. Our problem is not religious, its cultural and intellectual, and the longer we ignore it the longer its going to continue going on for.

You must have read the Cliff Notes version of that thousands year old book. Serious lack of comprehension of content and context being displayed in your posts.

Your suggestions for cure of society's ills have also been around longer than the thousands year old book. How's all that been working out?

This post will be lost on the naturalists. The belief that people are included on the same link in the chain as other animals gives them the out in their minds to behave like animals. That old choice and reason thing gets lost. That thinking is older than the Roman hills.

No matter how the AJJ/Williams thing turns out, all of us lose from the choices that were made on that night.

Whatever Butch has to do to turn the tide to get the guys focused on classes, football, repping UT, etc. is what I support. Maybe DeBord can help with that as well.

I wonder if this will get the same level of media coverage as the Vanderbilt trial?

I hope not, i wish he didnt get in this mess but at least he was a senior, so it should not affect our team in any way, now saying that i hate it for the girl if this is true.

Do away with the drinking and illegal drugs and a lot of rapes would not take place.
