Man DT is working miracles with this team. Zo wouldn't have anything near the success we've had this year with this awful team. Next year will be rough without some surprise recruits, but I'm so impressed with DT in the court.

The fight is skrong with the BasketVols with Donnie Knoxville at the helm.

My orders here in the Indianapolis are end soon and it doesn't appear that we will be staying here. I turned down the El Paso opportunity though. My old boss has been bugging me to come work for her in DC though and that is a much more appealing location change to my wife (aka Livingroom 6). So if everything falls into place it looks like my clan is going to the Cap. Thank you for asking.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good location to live in the DC area?

My uncle worked at the Pentagon for many years (he's deceased now) and he and his family lived in Alexandria, VA and loved it around there. IIRC he went in the military about 1939 and retired about 1977.

We have been looking around that area. Everything is about three to four times more expensive in terms of housing but we have found some good looking places for a reasonable price. Now we just have to figure out the school situation for our girls. I am grateful to those like your uncle who served before me and kept our nation free through some terrible times.

Picked it up because someone posted something that pequed my interest...and I actually had time to post today. That's rare these days.

I do not like the hire nor do I accept any narrative that spins it in a favorable light but, I'm rooting for him to succeed, truly...what choice do I have? My blood runneth orange.

:good!:

Foggy Bottom.

I really don't know if it's a nice place to live or not, but it has a stop on the Metro and, when I was visiting the area, the 9 year-old in me always chuckled when the conductor would say, "Next stop, Foggy Bottom" :)

As a former La Plata, MD resident all I can say is...I wouldn't move back. It is nice to visit the museums (especially the Air and Space Smithsonian and the Natural History Smithsonian), but the crime is very high. I can't tell you what place is the nicest because all I know from what my family says about DC is that there really isn't much of a nice neighborhood around DC. And just fyi, my parents grew up in and around Waldorf and my grandfather worked at the Pentagon so I am positive they know about the DC and surrounding areas. There are places that are nicer than the others, though...obviously. Anywho, congrats on the job. I love me some good ole Maryland seafood. I miss that a lot.

Edit: After reading some of the other peeps say Virginia, I agree with them. Just expect very pricey housing (but that's everywhere around DC) and a butt ton of people. Northern Virginia does have some nice countryside though. A lot of horse farms and huge houses that look nice.

Wife her. That's a keeper.

That's what I did 30 years ago this coming June. When we started seeing each other she wanted to watch college football and was orange blooded. Started arguing with me over plays, players, and coaches. Got that ring on her finger quickly. Best move I ever made. :)

Don't have any information on the DC area, but I spent a little time in El Paso in '89. Needless to say, I have no desire to EVER go back. You made a good choice, IMO.

My brother works in DC; lives in Leesburg, VA. Some nice country out there. Pricey, and a hefty commute into DC. But from what I gather from him, that is SOP for DC folks.

Need a PG BAD. When Richardson needs a breather, the other team presses is hard and it's constant turnovers forcing Richardson back in the game.

I've lived and worked in the DC area for 40 years. I would recommend that you live on the VA side, but it depends where your job is located. Housing is pricey, but the career opportunities are excellent. We live in Springfield which is close to the beltway and fairly close in. My daughter lives in Leesburg and loves it. But they both do not work in DC so the commute is not an issue. When we first moved up here, we rented for a year while we checked out everything. It worked great for us. Good luck. If you need help, I'm sure Freak has a way to link us up on email.

10 years, this April. Told her on the third date I was going to marry her. She was a two sport athlete in college and, aside from me having a height advantage of over one foot, she's the better athlete...and just better, overall, at everything else.

First game we went to was the Florida game in '04...Wilhoit's kick.

We have our third girl 2 weeks before our 10th anniversary in April...my second is in my lap as I type this.

I'm a lucky man.

What exactly are you implying...

Probably this: When you are a young and have a young family, things are good. You have health, a beautiful young wife, and beautiful young kids. As time passes, you and the wife get older, the pressure is on to get a bigger house - so, you need to make an increased income; and the kids become teenagers (argh). But hang in there, as you get even older (and if you are fortunate), the wife and you are still married, the kids become educated, get jobs, move out of the house, get married (some skip this step), and give you grandchildren. You become the grandfather and it becomes even more enjoyable. Hopefully, your life works out in this way. Some do not. I am blessed because mine has worked out (mostly) in this fashion.

Throwaway comment...congratulations on finding the one meant for you. :eek:k:

Maybe you just picked the wrong one?

Hahaha. Whoa people. Overreact much?

I was simply implying that around that timeline you will have three teenage girls, which I have heard gets a bit difficult with all the drama and such. So I was implying you may not feel so lucky then.

And I will be in the same boat with you. My girls are 3 and 2. And I have another baby on the way - gender unknown right now.
