Preston is going to be a beast. Let's not get off topic. Who thinks he will see playing time this year?

I never lived in El Paso but we went through there 2 or 3 times. Didn't really like it at that time (in the 1980's) and it's probably not much better now. It is across the border from Juarez which may not be a good thing. Hope you can make contact with someone that lives there to learn what it's like now.

Yeah. Juarez scares me. We have three young girls and their safety is priority one in my book. Need to pray hard on this one. I have to make a decision by Wednesday. Oye vey.

The big issue is it is so far from our family. Our kids love their grandparents so much and it is an expensive plan ride away. We will end up doing what is best for our family but man it is a hard decision. Thank you for serving the Veterans. So many need real assistance.

Guess you have to evaluate what matters more in your life. Family happiness or more security for the future?

Easy answer for me...life is too short to be unhappy. You probably know deep down that living in El Paso isn't going to make you happy. JMO.

I can live anywhere. I lived in Iraq for a year. The thing is can I ask my family to move to El Paso and be so far from all the people we love for a job. Also, how do I provide for them if we don't move to El Paso. I am a Soldier and it is what I am good at. I appreciate everyone's input and perspective on my situation. I have a difficult decision ahead of me.

Does anybody live in El Paso? I have an opportunity for a promotion and more job stability than I have now but it would require a move. It is minimum 19 hours from M'boro where all our family is. Another thing is it would allow me to retire from the military in about 6 years and immediately draw my pension. Ugh. Why El Paso?!?!

I worked in Las Cruces (30 min from El Paso, in NM) for about 6 months. It sucks down there, but there are some good areas. All the outdoor activities you could possibly want to do (Hiking, camping, fishing, boating, etc). Would you have to be there for all six years? You can fly ABQ to BNA pretty cheap on Southwest Airlines. It's a 4 hr drive away, but much cheaper than El Paso airport, and let's face it, out west, everything is 4 hours away, it's desolate. If I can give you any more info, let me know...

Brother-in-law's from there...visited way too many times. Not the worst place on Earth...cuz it's in Texas not Alabama. :)

We would more than likely only be there 3 years then another move. That is how the military does things. Thanks again for all the inputs. I have a lot to think about.

My daughter moved with my son-in-law and my 2 grandbabies to El Paso for work. I couldn't complain much since I got him the job with my company. While El Paso is close to Juarez, it is also rated as one of the safest cities in America. I've been there many times (my boss lives there and says he would never leave) and there are plenty of things to do in the area. Also, if you decide to make the move, try to live west of El Paso, just over the mountain (they call it a mountain...more of a big, rocky hill). The schools are good and the neighborhoods are nicer.

I'm assuming that you will be working at Bliss. I still have a couple of folks working there on our vehicles (BFV) and can get you some info if you want. Good luck with your decision and Thank You for Your Service!

If I get the chance, I am moving back out west to live out the rest of our life. I never realised how much I missed it till we went out a few years ago. I liked El Paso, I worked there for a few months. It is no more dangerous than any other border towns in the southwest.

True story.... my wife did fall down the stairs Nov '13. I had to take her to the ER as she had broken her wrist. I sat there wondering if they were thinking, "sure she fell down the steps, you wife abuser".

You can tell a lot of the times by the break whether it is consistent with the story that you hear.
