Sanford was looking to leave the whole time. We just put on a charade the whole time. we interviewed him with no real interest in hiring anyone other than Janitor DeBord.

Janitor? The guy was over seeing one of the most prestigious Olympic sports programs in the country. May not be football related but if he was looking to break into an administrative role, that's a pretty nice 1st job.

Not a lot of people on here that wouldn't trade their current job for that one Id bet.

yeh my bad. he is in charge of cleaning out the pool and making sure the weight room is picked up. Sanford is the best young OC in CFB and we had a chance to get him bc he obviously wanted out. Spin it however you want though.

I...I--....ca...can't tell if serious.

Its comical how people on here love to substitute their armchair judgment for those who do this for real. Calling Debord a janitor is real classy.

You point is valid, but you can make it without exaggerating. Debord was basically an assistant AD, not a janitor.

I'm dead serious. He's in charge of a program that has won 12 national championships. Olympic sports are a much bigger deal up north than they are down here in the south. It's a good way to break into an administrative roll. He'd have a background in multiple sports.

It's very doubtful that Sanford would have wanted to run any other system but his own. CBJ isn't willing to change systems in his 3rd and probably most important year as head coach (if at all) so he picked someone he knew and trusted and could run his system. Weather or not this decision was the right one or not, we will know is about 6-7 months.

his offense is not that much different at boise. we went with the safe hire bc butch doesnt want to be uncomfortable. Thats all it amounts to. Gary Patterson realized sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone.

Ok...then, by that logic, that might have some relevance if we hired him into an administrative position but, in what shape, form, or fashion, does that position translate to calling offensive plays in the SEC?

Keeping in mind that it's been north of a decade since he last called plays for an offense...?

Serious question.

Do people here truly believe we (or power teams in general) never cheat to get recruits? I get this Arian Foster hate, but pretending schools don't actually do this is insane. The best ones get away with it.

Why is it ok for us to think Bama pays players or UF does, but its not ok to think we did some shady things in the 90's and 2000's?

See I never claimed that made him a better hire. I just said that the original poster shouldn't act like he was merely a Janitor.

Get over it and stop whining. Be sure to be here to eat your crow when the offense is humming this upcoming season.

Hyperbole was rather thick in the post you're referring to and, though I can't speak for the other poster, the inference was, I believe, that, in comparison to Sanford, Debord was a janitor.

Which...quite honestly...is a little over the top but, given their respective recent positions in the world of football, is quite appropriate.

We hired a dude who was teaching swimming, track, and the hammer throw to come and call plays against the best athletes, best defensive coordinators, and best head coaches, this side of amatuer sports; calling him a janitor in comparison to his immediate competitors is pretty sarcastic but.....it fit quite well with his post.

Call it hyperbole but it was a cheap shot. He's not impressed with the hire and his favorite was hired at Notre Dame, so to compensate for his inner pain and turmoil, he picked what to him was a disparaging job and put it on Debord's resume. If this hire works out, maybe he can take his favorite custodian out to dinner...if it doesn't, check the news feeds for a run of hate crimes on a certain respectable profession...we have a suspect. :glare:
