Ukraine Protests

Who did then?

What the heck, this thread wasn't any fun at peace anyway.

The Ukrainians diverted the plane over separatist airspace and then fired upon it with their forward deployed (shown by Russian satellite imagery) ADA battery. The plane was supposed to land in Russian territory. However, the plane survived the initial hit and banked left. A Ukrainian fighter had to finish it off. When investigators did the math and realized there was no way the plane was within range (when the plane's course and acquisition time is included in the calculation); they classified the investigation and seized the black boxes. That's why we haven't heard a peep since.

Serious question. Why have I never seen clips of these state department briefs on US news? I don't watch a ton of main stream news, but I seriously can't recall ever seeing one.

They show five-second sound bytes from time to time. Anything longer must be considered snooze TV.

MH-17 'Investigation': Secret August 8th Agreement Seeps Out Washington's Blog

Amazing that one of the prime suspects was allowed to be a member of the 4 country investigation. And they complain about how the elections in Crimea were rigged...

That's why I like watching old debate shows of the 70s/80s. They used to get so in depth you could actually learn something. Especially compared to the 3-5 min segments you get today. The old shows have the added benefit of hindsight. In some cases enough time has passed to see who won. In fact, I recently watched an old NAFTA debate. It was quite depressing because everything the guy opposing NAFTA said, essentially happened.

pretty sure the russians got their hands on it first and turned over the black box after having it for a week+

There is C-SPAN.

Touched on this yesterday.

Ukraine: The War Must Go On? - Carnegie Moscow Center - Carnegie Endowment for International Peace

Almost exactly one year after the mass killings on the Maidan, not a single top figure has been jailed for corruption.

And don't forget about the rebels not allowing the emergency responders into the crash site in the aftermath.

Or the investigation team.

Plain English...

Prime Minister Mark Rutte's government is coming under increasing pressure to reveal all it knew about the risks of allowing passenger planes to fly over conflict-torn eastern Ukraine last year.

Rutte also has avoided explicitly saying that a missile downed the Boeing 777 as it was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. The government says it has to be cautious in what it says because Dutch authorities are leading criminal and civil investigations into the crash.

The release of documents appeared to do little to cast new light on what the government knew. The pages include agendas of crisis meetings to discuss the disaster and plans for the repatriation of bodies found among the wreckage.

No conspiracy here dimwit.

Because the investigation is still going on. The DNR has not cooperated with full access to the site. Investigators have to keep going there to push for further access. Even Kremlin troll Graham Phillips said last week he was contacted about access to his photos and videos. If this were some cover up it would seem odd that Kremlin media puppets would be involved.

Enjoy... one of my favorites,

Thanks for the link. There was entertainment value there, but I didn't really learn anything. I did appreciate the reference to Lumberton, NC. I have several friends from the Lumbee tribe. They took me to a powow in Lumberton once. It's one of the most economically depressed areas in NC, but it was a good time.

I was thinking more along the lines of these because they greatly influenced my opinion on an issue:

I used to be a free trade guy until I watched this debate and read currency wars.

This debate influenced my view on welfare.

I thought this one was interesting because Pat Buchanan of today sounds a lot like Larry McDonald in the debate.

Exactly. This is what kills me. Straight from Soviet times. This guy can seriously stand in front of the world and make such a stupid claim when a simple viewing of the front lines today compared to the date HIS government signed the Minsk agreement. All of these gains his side has made since THEY signed a document saying they would not....and then has the grapefruits to accuse Ukraine of being the dishonest party. I'm waiting for him to pound his shoe on a podium Kruschchev style.
