How the heck did we beat Georgia 35-14?

Logically, there are only eight teams that anyone who buys into the 'haven't won an NC since 1999' perspective could support. Two of them play this year meaning there's a 50% random chance of picking the only team who meets that criterion if you choose before the game.

It's safer to wait until after the game and then just start rooting for the winner. You could then start an early campaign to fire their coach next year without waiting to see if they repeat in the next decade or not.

It's an opportunity to pick a new team.

I'll stick with the Vols and whoever is coaching them-- especially when they have one who has a NC ring with UT on it; nine 10-win seasons, and a possible top 10 finish this year.
don't want a new team, just an SEC Championship and some accountability in the program.

The sum of the Gators wins and one would have been a ten win season for them.

Oh well... that's puts them somewhere below average by your definition. Actually that great new coach of theirs led them to a third place finish in the East, this year. Don't even have to wait a year to criticize him.
pointing out that the gators suck has nothing to do with our football team, unless you're pointing out that they beat us as badly as I ever remember being beaten.

you seem to have neglected 3 embarrassing defeats in this single season, a sub .500 season just 2 years ago and the fact that we haven't won a conference title over that same period. 10 win seasons and top 10 finishes are nice, but we're not paying THCAUTK to do things that are nice.

Huh? Maybe I'm just slow today, but this makes no sense to me.

The following list has the only teams that have won a NC since 1999. Multiple choice format. To say you can't support a team that hasn't won the NC since 1999, you must pick one that has. Then to be rooting for the only team with two NC during the past decade, you need only to choose one of the two that play this year. I placed an asterik by the two options. Good luck with the Fire Miles or Fire Tressel campaigns.

1) FSU
2) OK
3) Miami
4) tOSU*
5) LSU*
6) So Cal
7) Texas
8) Florida

Our play against Bama was horrendous. Our play against Arkansas was good. Our play against Vanderbilt was bad, we were average against South Carolina and Kentucky. Average may actually have been kind.

An average number of wins possible in leagues that play an equivalent number of games amongst teams that comprise the set is 50% of the games the team played.

again, there is nobody, not one single person, on this site bashing CPF for failing to win the NCG over the past 9 seasons. Unfortunately, you know that but just aren't willing to admit that there are legitimate reasons for the discord.

Easy - teams change throughout the season. It's called progression. Teams are going to look different from day to day as they continue to prepare.

Nice win for the Dawgs though, they made the conference look good.

Great...now do some real research and find out for me how many teams have won a bcs conference championship over the past 9 seasons.

Lucky for them, the AP wasn't stupid enough to tie their votes to a system stupid enough to override two human polls which both had USC number 1. AP titles count as national titles.

don't ask for something that would but our HC in a bad light. He just won a bowl game to get to 10 wins, AGAIN.

USC has 2 championships the past decade.

What? First at the beginning of the year you claim USC would be unbeatable this year, and now you're giving them TWO championships? Which, of course is incorrect.

Somebody has a Petey Carroll crush.

I don't think I said "unbeatable" although I think I had them in the national title game. You were the one who said they were mediocre this year. Someone hates a coach who actually wins his conference.

And saying they have 2 national titles, is not incorrect.

Plain and simple. This was an average team. Whether you believe it was a drop in talent or lack of good coaching, the simple fact is that this team was less than impressive all year long.
Fulmer's big thing is "we are gonna work like heck to improve." I didnt see any improvement in this team starting with coaching and game planning to actual play calling and execution from the beginning of the year to the end.

So you saw no difference in the UT team vs UF and the one vs LSU on either side of the ball?

I think the players played harder in the LSU game. We gave up in the UF game. Game planning wise was no better.
UT just ran into a team with a coach that is just as bad at coaching.

So you're one of those people that believe there can be two national champions huh?

There shouldn't be, but that year, there were.

Why only recognize the AP as rogue a "championship decider"? I think the Winchester Register voted UT the National Champs last season. We can claim that one?
