Paulk to be reinstated [Rumor]

People who are willing to admit they are wrong and work to correct themselves by all means necessary should receive the opportunity to show others that they can change and that forgiveness and second chances can be achieved . We all make mistakes ,people can change , I have seen it .

I thought the girl changed her story.

I agree people can be forgiven and get a second chance. IMO, it just should not be at Tennessee representing the Orange. There are other schools where he could get a fresh start.

I say let him come back with a very short leash. He will have gotten what is equivalent to a one year suspension as punishment for striking a woman. Maybe, just maybe the guy has been humbled by all the media attention and loss of playing time, and realizes this behavior must never be repeated. He made a bad choice as a teenager that I'm sure he wishes he could take back. I hate to see this destroy his dreams, especially if the victim happens to be OK with him being on the team.

Yes I agree if he comes back and repeats his mistakes in the least it tarnishes our great university in which we all take great pride in ,But , if he returns and carries himself in a respectful law biding way and gives back to the community it can show that we have a program that can not only mold football players but can mold life players as well. Only those close to Treyvon can know if he deserves a second chance and if he gets it.

What's it say to the Lady Vol BB players who saw him cold clock the girl and spoke up when it happened? Imo, sends the wrong message.

People will say they let that violent woman abusing coward back on the team so they can win football games , We all know this . And it can send the message to all women that guys can get away with it if they are star athletes . The easy answer is to not reinstate . Butch knows all this as well as you and I and everyone else on the outside looking in . What we dont know is ,has he shown remorse ,has he received and had success in counseling , shows humility and a desire to correct himself. If he is reinstated it will be because Butch believes the young man has earned a second chance and not because he is an athlete . Will Butch put the program and university under this scrutiny to help a kid he believes in ?

I for one, hope not.

This is more like Paulks 3rd chance. A man that has beat a woman while she was sleep does not deserve to play football for the University of Tennessee. And if you want to know what I'm taking about read the link.

If they want to create an even bigger divide between the Lady Vols and the football Program this the way to do it. Not only were 2 members of the Lady Vols BB team witnesses. Elliot Berry was also a witness.

Not weighing on the Paulk issue but rather this idea that anyone would give a damn about a rift between the football and ladies basketball team. I mean this is laughable.

I've made my opinion on the situation pretty clear. He should not be back. Obviously the woman is not doing the smart thing at all in not pressing charges when the "attacks" take place. If it's been numerous times, it's as much her fault as it is his. Ya want the abuse to stop, quit giving the abuser a way out.

Since Joseph Young is taking a blue shirt at UT I don't think Paulk will be back at all. I could be wrong but why would you take Young if you were going to let Paulk back in?

I thought the girl changed her story.

Again, it has nothing to do with what the apparent victim does. There were witnesses who saw something happen, and they have all described what they saw happen.

It has nothing to do with whether anyone is charged, or a complaint filed, or a complaint withdrawn, or other legal niceties. It was a decision by the football coaching staff, based on eyewitness accounts, that they did not want Pault as a representative of the UT football team. Pure and simple.

Not trying to bash you :hi:, as I respect you as one of the sensible folks here, but I'm getting a little crazy reading some of the posts.

IF Jones has decided to reinstate Paulk, I assume (and fervently hope) that it is as a result of something that Paulk did to address this, whether therapy, public service, restitution, or any combo of the above. So far, I have been impressed by CBJ's insistence upon accountability. If Paulk did something meaningful during this time to earn his way back on the team, then thumbs up to him, hope he meant it and that it resulted in a lasting change, and go Vols.
