Ukraine Protests

I'm typically not one to partake in conspiracy theories, other than when I'm just f'ing with people, but is there any doubt on God's green earth that Putin was behind the 1999 Russian apartment bombings? It's hardly even worth questioning.

Thank goodness for the courageous tenants who were willing to stand up to the FSB-men that were about to blow up their apartment complex as well.

Unfortunately, the fact that Russians, despite all evidence against him, have not risen against Putin for this crime (and his others) speaks to their national character. God bless them, I love them. I love studying them. I think there are many things to admire about them, especially their courage, patriotism, and capacity to suffer, But, it's true: the majority of them prefer the lash to the truth.

As I've said before, and still believe, as long as a Russian is lashing their backs, they're good to go. Very different concept of freedom and self-determination they have.

I'll admit Putin is not the second coming, but I think I have to look at it in the sense that NATO(established to combat soviet expansion) is expanding.

I do not see where Russia is expanding. Sure, they want to expand their influence like all world powers, but this is on their front porch. I do not fault Putin for any reaction he's taken so far, jmo.

Good answer. Fair points.

and i can't think of an American war where average Joe was effected. Revolution went from paying taxes to the brits to their own ~66% of the nation didn't want the war at all. War of 1812, british attacked didn't change anything for Joe. Mexican American War, nope. Civil War, maybe. Spanish American War, nope. WWI nope, WWII nope. Korean and Vietnam hardly, and the current ongoing mess in the ME/Afghanistan didn't start because an american was oppressed or wanted for something. none of our wars have really been to improve the lot of Americans. that may have been a result, or resulted in more Americans down the line. very few wars in history are actually fought to improve the life of average Joe.
Wow... how many average Joes were drafted and sent off to die in these wars?

with that being said I really do wish the next president would completely pull America out of all foreign affairs for his whole term. spend the time and money fixing our problems, and watch the world burn. The world would not last a year without our direct intervention. NK takes over Korea, ISIS takes over the ME, Africa turns into a whole scale civil war/genocide gone wild, China starts fighting all of its Asian neighbors (look at conflicts with Japan, Vietnam and others brewing), afghanistan/Pakistan falls into chaos, India would likely invade them to try and settle it. South America would be the home of even more tyrants and broken countries of extreme corruption beyond what is there now. Europe would be rattled, the baltic nations would quickly fall to infighting, Russia would find itself unopposed and at the very least 'annexes' land with native russians on it, including most of scandavia and anything east of poland. germany, france and Britain would be shell shocked by the sudden vacuum of power finding themselves alone at the top and finding out how unfriendly the world is to those that want to rule it. the EU and the Euro would more than likely collapse without its biggest trade market, causing all of Europe sans the big 3 or 4 to default which would lead to innumerable conflicts. then there are the numerous pirates and other exploiters of international trade who would suddenly find themselves unopposed.
I get accused of American exceptionalism, yet I come here and read this Doomsday scenario where you think the world would turn to a dystopian dumpster fire. I think the world would be fine if we got out of the way in most of these areas.

congrats Ras, you sacrificed the longest period of peace in the history of human civilization all so you could follow the wisdom of men who didn't know what electricity was, and had the wisdom to leave the Constitution vague enough to allow the oppression of women and blacks. created the foundation of the two party system which has lead to a continuous choice of a giant douche or a turd sandwich. lets not forget how they created a tax system which was insufficient for their needs at the time, and very unpopular at the time as well leading to several rebellions. they started us down the road of debt by creating a system that could not support themselves. congratulations lets blindly follow them because they were successful revolutionaries and must have been the smartest people ever who were omnipresent enough to know exactly how the US should act in the future, ie. head in the sand.
This last paragraph has so much fail in it, it would take me a while to break it down. Let me start be saying that you got it right in saying that the Founders did nothing for the rights of women and were not able to solve the black issue after much debate. Having said that, however, everything else you posted in this paragraph is a distortion or a lie.

This! Not EVEN close to the truth!

When was this longest period of peace in the history of human civilization? And Ben Franklin didn't know about electricity?

created the foundation of the two party system which has lead to a continuous choice of a giant douche or a turd sandwich.
Most of The Founders were not fans of political parties.

lets not forget how they created a tax system which was insufficient for their needs at the time, and very unpopular at the time as well leading to several rebellions.
The Whiskey Rebellion was a tax created by Alexander Hamilton to help repay the debts of war to the 1st National Bank of The United States (but you said the average Joe hasn't been affected by one war). The US went almost 125 years without needing the 16th Amendment. We didn't need the the 16th Amendment until the establishment of the 3rd National Bank of The United States (The Federal Reserve). As long as the nation was able to print its own money and keep the central banks out of the country, the US did fine.

they started us down the road of debt by creating a system that could not support themselves.
The Federal Reserve started us down that path. If you walked into a bank in 1913 and gave them 50 double gold eagles, they would give you $1,000 cash. If you would have passed that same $1,000 on down to your descendants and they had it today, they wouldn't even be able to buy 1 double eagle. So in essence, in 100+ years, the value of our currency has dropped by more than 98% (49/50). That is the sinister nature of the central banks.

Yes, there's doubt in that there wasn't smoking gun evidence.

Give us a history lesson please!

I gave up on attempting any rational discussion with you a while back. You ignore anything that is contrary to what you set your mind to and continue to support the wildest theories on what's going on you possibly can.

Even when facts are slammed into your face, you ignore them. So why waste my time with you?

What facts or proof are you slamming in my face?

You've yet to answer Ras' question of why we are involved in Ukraine?!

Wait... when did you answer it?

When has anything been posted that you haven't immediately countered with one of the following:

A: Victoria Nuland
B: A CIA plot
C: America is bad
D: Russia is being pushed into a corner
E: Variations and combinations of the above

I refuse to discuss it again as I have your response already mapped out above. You're a bright boy, go look throughout the thread.

Info is starting to leak about the Munich Agreement 2.0 designed by France and Germany. It calls for 30-40 mile DMZ around the front line. Hollande also says the east need extensive autonomy from the central government.

Yes, there's doubt in that there wasn't smoking gun evidence.

You call an apartment bloc catching FSB-men setting up explosives in the middle of the night not "smoking gun"? Coupled with the fact that Putin had a paltry approval rating (because no one knew who the hell he was) when he was first introduced? Velo, you're smarter than this. Don't over-analyze things.

I'm just glad that particular apartment complex stood up to them. Who knows when Putin would have stopped if that had not happened.

Pacer, would you vote for Putin if he ran for US President? You've stated as such before, but everyone is entitled to change his opinion. Would you vote for him and why?

How can you read the article you link to, with a section on "scholars" debating the "theory," and not acknowledge there is some room for doubt? Reasonable doubt? I don't know. I haven't conducted an investigation.

Maybe some Chechens bombed some of the buildings and Russians others?

Either way, Putin's got plenty of other baggage. I'm not going to nominate him for sainthood.
