You, by yourself, absolutely ruin this thread with your whiny, immature name calling antics!!!

Just put him on ignore like I did a few months ago. At least with everyone else in here, you can have a good debate. I hope volprof isn't really teaching the next generation of leaders.

Putin: Ukraine Army in Fact ‘NATO Legion’

Russian President Vladimir Putin says a "NATO legion" is fighting against rebel forces in eastern Ukraine, and that its goal is to contain Russia.

“We often say: Ukrainian army, Ukrainian army. But who is really fighting [in eastern Ukraine]? There are official divisions of the armed forces but to a great extent there are so-called voluntary nationalist battalions. This is not even an army, it's a foreign legion. In this case it's a foreign NATO legion,” Putin said, speaking before university students in the city of St. Petersburg.

“[They are there] with the aim of geopolitically containing Russia, which is absolutely not in the national interests of the Ukrainian people,” he said.

this doesn't make sense for it be Ukrainians bombing themselves. From what i have read the shelling was no where near anything of military value, and Ukraine obviously didn't want to open up a new front at Mariupol, they are already getting their buts kicked elsewhere. story is weak for it to be Ukrainian.

now whether or not the guy caught was actually a spotter, I doubt that very much.

seriously? lol. just no. try again, when you see some NATO equipment in the area you can talk to me. (besides the aid we already giving) I am talking Abrams, Challenger that type of crap, not ooh look an 'American with no accent' holding an M16.

It was an M-4. Which lends even more credibility to the "OMG The Americans are invading!" theory of the tin foil hat crowd.

seriously, it was clear to everyone and their mothers that the peace talks would break down. and the whole time Ukraine is building up its forces OSCE continued to say troops and supplies were making it over the Russian border. Ukraine would have been dumb as heck not to have prepared for more fighting.

i forget who said it but "Let those who desire peace, prepare for war"

The only way to exert any measure of negotiating strength at those talks was to have the military power ready to respond if things went south. neither side would respect the other's talking points if they felt the other was weak.

and i can only speak for part of the line but the OSCE commented that much of that military movement by Ukraine was them rotating troops off the front line, so new guys came in, got dug in, old guys left. even the article you link doesn't mention a numbers increase.

I don't know why you guys think Ukraine wants this fight, they have been losing since day 1.

Like the article said, last week over 100 civilians were killed in Gorlovka alone. Western media ignored this.

This is an info war. I'm not in any way declaring that Russia isn't a player, but since the onset, Kiev and Washington have immediately pointed the finger at Moscow when the evidence points otherwise.

Why in the world would separatists target their own civilians?

i thought this was talking about Mariupol, where the rebs weren't in control yet? In which case it could be a 'terror bombing' think WWII not jihad. they are trying to break their will, soldiers and civilians. if this was in another location. :hi:

and if blame ever gets officially given it will be passed off as bad aim.

People like the mayor and two Ukrainian soldiers interviewed here are in denial if they don't think the separatists are coming after them.

They can celebrate together when each of their nation's debt gets downgraded.

Downgraded by who... S&P or Moody's?

Weren't these the same institutions giving junk securities AAA ratings right be fore the 2008 crash? Didn't S&P have to back peddle after they downgraded the US and Obama put pressure on them?

Neither of them are losing sleep at this point. The BRICS are in the process of creating their own rating agency. Besids, Greece and Russia don't intend on borrowing from the usual suspects in the near future anyways. So screw 'em.
