Ainge said in an interview on Friday that the shoulder was not the reason they didn't throw the ball down the field. He said it was more a factor of playing to their strengths on offense.
I'll see if I can find his exact statement.

Why? I'm sure he knows that everybody deals with injuries. He didn't say that it cost us any games or anything. I'm sure somebody probably asked him about Ainge's finger and it went from there. I don't know why people always feel the need to analyze everything a football coach says.this just sounds like another Fulmer excuse, push the blame somewhere else

Not really that funny. Phil started his record of deception and political games early, with his help in the Majors departure and has continued from there. Not opinion, but i think it's called HISTORY, sir.
For the record... Majors' sealed his own fate when he screwed up Phil's great start and lost Bammer for the umpteenth time.
There is no "for the record" in your comment about the Bama loss causing his firing. It was caused by a combination of things, greatly aided by Phil's inept attempt to organize a coaches walkout during the season. Yes, Phil's loyalty and forthrightness is legendary on the hill.
Had Majors taken care of business and won the games we were supposed to win he wouldnt have been on the hot seat.
thats true for most any coach, BUT, it doesn't change the fact that Phil was dishonest, disloyal to the the man that hired him, and disingenuous. and AGAIN, his record against "rivals" was not the only reason that Johnny was canned, by any stretch of the imagination.
also, what games are we SUPPOSED to win? cause if that includes Florida, i don't think that Phil is doing that great at it, either.
I'd say the people in charge were a bit disappointed in losing to USC and Arky that year, a little more than losing to Bama. Those were two games there was really no excuse to lose.
unfortunately, upsets do happen from time to time in college football, yes, sometimes more than once a year. i seem to remember that Phil has suffered a few unexpected losses of his own, to worse teams than SEC schools.
and it's not just UT...how can a team like Southern Cal lose to Stanford, of all things? but, it happens.
