I havent seen anything mentioned on this yet,but do you think there could be a running game coordinator(DeBord) and a passing game coordinator(Coach Z)?

you kill 2 birds with 1 stone, get a better run game going, and keep Coach Z and get him experience as an OC. DeBord probably doesnt have very many years left in coaching, but it gets CZA prep time for the big job with all the responsibility...

I guess we will find out Monday

It's sad that rationality like that has to be imported to VN. Strong post.

Yes, I agree that was a strong post and made sense... the key here I think to a lot of folks is now not so much if we hire DeBord, but if we hire him and Azzani STAYS....then it will be a good thing.

DeBord is only 58. That may seem ancient to some but it's not. I used to think so myself but now not so much.

1. Bajakian was horrible as OC. Happy to have anyone that has big D1 experience instead.
2. Azzanni's receivers showed very little improvement this year when they were healthy. Not sure why everyone is oogling over this guy.
3. Don't surrender yet. Let's see how this plays out next season first. It might just be an improvement!!!

Not sure I can grasp the understanding of the receivers showing so little improvement with opposing players coming in unblocked with our quarterback on his ass.

From the sound of this thread it looks like the police are going to have to set up a ticket booth to sell launching spots from the Gay Street Bridge on Wednesday.

Mike DeBord will be announced the new OC of Tennessee Vols on Monday. DeBord really impressed Butch Jones during the interview and Butch seems to like DeBord's vision for UT's offense.
Azzani will reportedly leave regardless of if he gets CMU job or not. He isnt very pleased with not getting serious consideration for the job.

Charlie Baggett is in consideration for return to Volunteer staff again.

If you want to know source of this information, wait until tomorrow afternoon when DeBord is announced and few days until other two are verified.

So,we're losing Azzani regardless of this hire? This is based on the assumption he does not get promoted.

Just when we thought we were done being kicked in the nutz...here we are, back for another round.

VFL Bergs quoted post makes it sound as if the decision has already been that DeBord will be the new OC inasmuch as he met with the QB's and had a film session with Dobbs and North. Any other "candidates" are nothing more than window dressing so that CBJ can say that he interviewed multiple candidates - vetted them - and DeBord was the guy for the job "after an exhaustive search". (you meet a candidate or two in airport vs a cpl days worth of in person meetings).

Contrary to popular belief, some of us read what's out there on the internet instead of getting all of our info from VN. I'm not splitting hairs when I say DeBord is not a QB coach.

so now I understand my mistake for not getting on the internet to verify info. Pretty much can make anything out of anything using the internet.

Read his Resume. Let's see what it says. Ask him.

Drops
Lack of fight on 50/50 ball
Giving up on routes
Inability to get open.

i am aware of the line issues. Yep that matters too.

Exactly.

What dark cloud is hanging over Neyland that says don't come to Tennessee...

Huh? I don't think it's a problem finding an OC other then big time OC's are making 800K-1.2k and we're paying 480K-510K. I don't think there is really a lack of interest in the job. Pretty much looks like it was DeBord in some capacity from the get go.

but who is calling the plays and coaching the QB's? Many questions few answers atp. Guess we wait.....impatiently like true fans

My whole issue with the potential hiring of Debord is who is going to coach the QB's. Maybe we are losing another coach that we do not know about yet.

It would make sense to hire Debord to coordinate the running game and coach the oline and hire a QB coach. If that is the case I would be okay with Debord and a coach like Lefleur as QB coach.
