A lot of staff's have a quality control assistant to help them though. It's not really a babysitter so much as an extra set of hands and eyes to lend a hand wherever is needed.

Not if Z gets promoted to OC, IMO.

OC at UT is a faster route to good head coaching gig than languishing in obscurity in Mount Pleasant.

I also don't see any way that Jancek leaves either. Not with what he has coming back on D this year. 2015 and 2016 could statistically be his best years as a coordinator.

So they would be Co Offensive coordinators, I like that but who becomes the Recruiting Coordinator? The new QB coach?

I wouldn't mind adding Deborn to coach the tackles on the offensive line and having oversight over Mahoney while he coaches the guards and centers.

I wasn't ever digging at you. You're one of my favorite posters here and your response to me last night was one of the most reasonable things written in like a 12 hour period. I thought I said so before, but I may have gone to bed without posting it.

It was the whole "Butch is so insecure about the hire that Josh Dobbs is going to speak at the press conference?!?!" that got my jimmies slightly rustled. Don't think you were involved in that.

I like the current system with a dual threat QB, but I wish they would incorporate more sets for short yardage situations.

There comes a time when a winning football team needs to just line up under center and run it right down the defenses throat, and that type of physical smash mouth football is extremely difficult to do from the spread.

The Vols need to add more formations with a fullback and double tights!

I agree. A jumbo set with a FB when in short yardage would be a welcome sight for me.

Just thought I would put that out there, since I am usually pretty optimistic, but last night, obviously a bit concerned about the possible hire

JMO, but DeBord may be more babysitting Mahoney with his experience. CBJ may be babysitting Azzani. Better?

Sounds better to me :)

I know it's alot to ask the recruiting forum but I have a request: can we keep the freakouts low until an ACTUAL definitive decision has been announced.

So so so many people are flipping their lids on rumors. Seeing "I'll blow a gasket if they hire debord" and other such girly drama responses.

WAIT UNTIL THE ANNOUNCEMENTS. I don't care how connected you think you are .... relax. Please. Everything will be alright.

If it's Debord? I think it's understandable if people freak out.

The thing is: we know AT MOST 2% about what goes on at our beloved athletic program. Even the best posters here know so little in comparison to what our coaches know. If Butch hires Debord as OC it will be odd. But at that point it's done so we have to support.
