Chris Kyle: American hero or

Read the CIA reports about CIA officers being troubled by the brutality and legality of the torture program.

I'm sure people would question the orders and try to stop them. They'd just be replaced by someone that doesn't care and be done with it.

No internal government person has stepped up to say the warrantless cellphone, radar-based home inspection and other issues are unconstitutional.

It was only by accident did we find out that LEO possess the radar systems used in Iraq/Afghanistan to search homes before entering. And they've been doing so in the US without warrants.

But, whatever. Stupid liberals trying to protect our rights.

But in all of this there is one common theme. It all came to light, someone said no and blew the whistle.

I didn't misrepresent anything. I simply called you out on a tired and completely irrelevant point.

My only point was that humans can be manipulated into doing things they think is for the greater good. If you disagree with that you're a fool. If you don't disagree with that then you're just arguing with me for no reason.

I agree they can. My point is that that the chances of manipulating the entire US military into attacking US citizens on US soil is as remote as winning the lottery 10 times in a row. If that good.

It doesn't need to be the entire military

You can't possibly be serious.

No, I'm serious. History repeats itself regularly. And, though cultures might be different, human nature remains the same for the most part. The underlying psychological infrastructure of the German people that allowed Hitler to commit those atrocities are present in every society. The Human psyche is vulnerable enough as a single entity, but it takes on an entirely new form of vulnerability when in great numbers. Militaries and societies are composed of people that are all able to commit horrible atrocities or allow horrible atrocities when bolstered by the perception that the greater portion of the group is in agreement.

There are like 3 posters in the politics forum who turn every thread into a s*** show. It's hard to have good conversations. I don't know if I didn't notice them when Mav was around, or if they got worse, but damn something needs to change.
