'15 TN OT Drew Richmond (Former Ole Miss commit)

Forget the stars. A highly rated player out of Tennessee at a position of need. That sound better?

Sure. But then we have to modify it further. A (relatively) highly rated player out of Tennessee (who has not only previously committed to leave the state of Tennessee, but who has allegedly recruited against Tennessee while AT Tennessee) at a position of need (where we also happen to be in on a couple of other recruits who may, in fact, not be much worse, if at all worse, than Richmond).

That is a pretty different claim. I would like have Richmond IF it were made clear that A) the alleged events never occurred, or B) he regretted doing those things, and could prove to our coaches that he would be committed going forward, and C) that he would commit almost immediately, making sure that we don't get left at the altar.

Idk when Newsome was here, but I believe the last time Richmond was here was in October when it was rumored his dad was yelling that his son was a vol.

I thought that whole yelling incident was in July before he announced. I remember him being here and recruiting newsome to Ole miss the whole time when they both visited. I thought that was while both were on their OVs. Maybe it wasn't drew's but I'm almost positive it was newsome's

You may choose to look at it how you want. I just see the 5th rated OT in the nation. No ratings or any past events matter very much after he steps on the field.

Someone catch me up...aside from "allegedly" recruiting people for Ole Miss while on an OV here, why does everyone hate this kid?

...or is that it?

I think the root cause is that he probably was the player that we wanted most. Being a 5* at our position of need out of Tennessee. Then dissing us and committing to Ole Miss.

he's no where near the 5th best OT... he was beat like a rented mule all week in the All Star game and went from the #1 player in the state to #9...

and the fact that VFL34 says he has talent, but no desire or fire is good enough for me

I don't spend much time in here...'cept around this time of the year...

Folks need to realize that there are "situations" like this most EVERY recruiting period...

Keep that in mind with your "damning post" of an 17-18 year old boy making manly decisions...and make some yourselves before you post such vitriol towards a 17-18 year old boy.

Capice?

"I asked Byron Cowart who the best OL he's gone against this week and his answer was immediate -- Drew Richmond -- has been best OL so far"

Okay..

Your only argument that he is good is that he is the 5th rated OT (on one service). And then the very next sentence says "no ratings...matter much once he steps onto the field". Okay, then why do we want him? Character seems meh. All he has over Allen one good rating, and you're dismissing that yourself!

What is your argument for his character? The alleged recruiting for Ole Miss while he was here? Doesn't speak for his character, speaks for the fact that he likes Ole Miss more than Tennessee. If there's something else I'm unaware of it. Okay and yes I said the ratings don't matter once he's on the field, but the ratings do matter to me right now. I'm dismissing the ratings when they step onto campus, but right now, give me the higher rated player.

There was some pretty disturbing texts he was sending a female IIRC.

I recall losing a lot of big fish on signing day in the past. It would be nice to have another flip our way again this year. We had a few players last year that had proclaimed Vandy allegiances previously.
I like every player that signs with the Vols. Signing erases all.

Only problem I have with Richmond is that he cut blocked Andrew Butcher at the end of the UA game. I don't blame him for recruiting to Ole Miss on his OV. It's part of the deal.

So, basically, it's just a bunch of hurt rear ends then....

Grow up, people. If this kid signs and grows into a an NFL caliber LT, people will be tripping over themselves just to compliment him.

A seriously talented player at a position of need...
If he has a change of heart and wants to come to UT ( and possibly improve Memphis area recruiting in the present).
It's a no brainer. We take him. Plain and simple. Hurt pride will heal when he is fighting in Orange.
Bring it big fella!

Backbone Rock, haven't thought about that place in a long time. We used to camp their a lot. Rote I am envious, maybe one day I will be able to get back up there. Glad you enjoyed it and go Vols.

Yeah, I agree. There isn't much here, but it's a great place to live. Plenty of stuff to do with a short drive though. Shady Valley is absolutely beautiful.

I love the ride from Damascus, VA through Shady Valley, Stoney Creek, and into Elizabethton on the Harley's...God's Country!
