'15 TN OT Drew Richmond (Former Ole Miss commit)

On another note, I hope this dude stays far away. If Richmond commits to Tennessee and someone is able to prove he took benefits, there are plenty of people that would turn us in as fast as they could. Especially someone like Devinner or someone at Bama getting what they think is "revenge" for what Fulmer did. Getting a bowl ban or scholarships taken away would be devastating. One commit could totally destroy 3 years of hard work.

I want Richmond in this class simply to see McKenzie destroy him in the circle of life drill.

And also because he's a great player at a position where we desperately need great players.

Ya stopped to soon I'm talkin about way in up here in extreme East Tennessee! Almost NC East Tennessee.

You mean northeast Tennessee, one of the best places on the planet. Need a road trip go try to find a little place called the Laurel Bloomery. It's on hwy 91 north of Mountain City.

this is what im thinking, I know recruiting is dirty but a guy like devinner would try his best to get ut in trouble

Alright so yesterday I had the opportunity to talk to a certain 2015 legacy commit for about 20 mins. I'll post what I heard about specific recruits in other threads. Anyways, what I was told was that Drew is receiving the Oher treatment (read between the lines on this), and is one to seriously watch on NSD to flip to us. He seemed positive that this situation was going to unfold so I can really only believe it to happen. Typically I am a little skeptical of what these guys say because they are bigger homers than we are but he said it with some serious conviction.

Question - do you get the sense that the coaches would take Richmond over Allen or St Louis, if they all (hypothetically) wanted to commit on NSD?

I'm not convinced that Richmond is the best prospect of the three, despite what some of the rating sites say and despite him being a Tennessee kid. And that's not even touching the potential red flags to which NotoriousRPP is alluding.

Wouldn't be the first or last time we've taken a recruit who has received "benefits".

If he's taken benefits from ole miss, why would we get a bowl ban? Richmond would be the only thing we'd lose.

I thought about that, but everything about this recruitment seems extremely shady. I'm not saying we did something wrong, but we don't need that dark cloud around us with people fishing around for anything. Didn't that UT booster from Memphis say people were trying to get him involved? We just don't need this. Isn't UT still on probation anyway?

I couldn't tell you without seeing the big board. It's a good problem to have though... All three are good prospects

Not sure what other posters in here were alluding to, but his twitter account didn't seem that bad. Dude was happy for Phillips when he committed to UT and even re-tweeted a pic of JRM, Maggit, and A.J.

I hope the UT coachs troll him, have him silently commit, then pull his offer on NSD.

I don't want any part of this drama queen, guys like this can rip a locker room in half. Our players dislike him, and be used his visits here to recruit guys to UM while misleading our coaches for months.

We are in this position with OTs because of Richmond. He can rot in Mississippi for all I care.

Lol, u mad.

Ill say this.....ppl on here dont want him, but the coaches probably do...n..... its up to the coaches not us. He will be supported if he comes here and plays... other then that ......... 2015 Atlanta will see a lot of orange

We need offensive tackles. Drew Richmond is an offensive tackle. We need him. I'm sure the coaches don't care what we think of Richmond or not. We need to win games and you can't win games if you don't have a descent O-Line.

Pat Dye had a great quote on this a few years back. It was something to the effect of, "You would be hard pressed to find a program, at least a successful one, that's lily white when it comes to that stuff."

I'd feel a lot better about it if random NCAA investigators couldn't just read it on our board. :pinch:

The kid cried on the spot when Butch offered him. He's trying to incorporate the local flavor into each class, I really doubt he disses a local fav in the process.

I agree. Kid is talented, local product, dying to be a Vol....not a kid you cut loose.

The rumor that he took benefits is just a BS rumor from someone who doesn't want Richmond. This is sleaze at its worst IMO.

With Boulware looking around we may be getting 2 of Pat Allen, St. Louis or Richmond. Also for those unaware apparently Boulware was in Athens yesterday.

Dutch, I made this trip this past Wednesday from Mt City through Damascus and back to Bristol, TN...plus Backbone Rock...beautiful area...GBO!

Well then who?

Don't know. There are opportunities to blueshirt/gray shirt a couple of kids who haven't OV'd....Lovinggood and Bruce I think, maybe another. Lotta smoke about Oliver not being a part of the class and Boulware is looking around. Not sure what other options Butch has. Just think it'd be very difficult to dismiss Joc for the reasons I listed earlier.
