Agreed. I just think it's easier to say 3 top 10 OL instead of 1 top 10 OG, 1 top 10 OT, and 1 top 10 C. Neither is incorrect IMO, one is just much easier to communicate.
What is the reason that Jack jones can't play left tackle as many keep stating on here? He is 6-5 300 according to stats I've seen. Chad Clifton was about the same size coming out of hs and he turned out to be one of the best lt in college and pros. I like the fact that Jack jones has a lil mean streak just like chad did. I hope we get Allen, but I don't think we will be as bad of a line as many are predicting on here.

This is what obviously I meant in my original post. But in typical VN tradition, the main point of a post was completely derailed to argue semantics about what I thought was an obvious over-simplification. My main point was we have a bunch of comments complaining that our coaching staff is unable to recruit top linemen, when we have 2 very highly rated linemen in this class.
IMHO, even if UT is as bad this fall as some seem to believe, Allen is unlikely to make it a whole lot better.
Like you apparently, I like Jones. Based just on the limited public clips and info, I like Jones better than Allen. The "ideal" LT is a very unique athlete. They need quick feet, a low center of gravity, and long arms. MOST teams do not have an "ideal" LT. They settle for an effective LT. IMO, Jones can be that guy.... I think he's closer physically than Kerbyson.
Both Coleman (center) and Kerbyson (guard) are playing out of position due to need.
Blair needed a RS yr., no sand bag. imo
Allen can play LT though he too would benefit from a RS imo
I'm not saying he didn't need a RS year, but he was better than Coleman last year, unless he had a stroke after his final JuCo game. And he was on campus for 9 months before the first game, so if he was still out of shape, our conditioning program needs work. I'm not saying Butch was wrong to do it, just saying he didn't have to play coleman as a freshman, he chose to in order to get two better years out of Blair and to use him when the team was better poised to compete.

That theory is just wishful thinking. You don't redshirt players if they are your best option. It doesn't happen. Anywhere. At all. Ever.

Dobbs and Berry are pretty good examples of that not happening.
Just look at Blairs JuCo film. Infinitely better in every way at tackle than Coleman.
