'15 MD OT Pat Allen

Allen's footwork was impressive on Sunday. So while he didn't make any sensationalized pancake blocks, he was rarely beaten. Solid is one of the best things for a tackle to be and the Maryland-based prospect was just that for the entirety of the evening. Allen's work at the second level was noteworthy and also a product of his evolving footwork. Allen recently broke his commitment to Georgia and is considering Oklahoma and Tennessee.

I think we take the first to commit. One will likely look elsewhere after we get a commitment from the other.

Would sure love to have both though, and you never know with Butch.

He would go to UNC and then be back at UT in an instant because UNC would fire their coach and he would be jobless. I would avoid going to that dumpster fire at all costs. Also NC fans are very gullible when it comes to any rumors. Remember Shy Tuttles recruitment?

I have a family member who works in the athletic department at Carolina who I saw over the holidays. I was asking him about UNC making a run at Thig after bowl season. Mind you our convesation was before they locked up Chizik, but he stated to me that Thig "has the reputation of not playing by the rules" so he did not think Fedora would be allowed to hire someone with that reputation since the NCAA is lurking around everything in Chapel Hill. Their AD has been very thorough with everything of late to try to prove to the NCAA that they are tightening up the ship.

I do find it ironic he told me this and then UNC turned around and hired Chizik who is certainly not a saint. We will see how it turns out, but I hope that Thig can see the opportunity for success in Knoxville over the next couple of years compared to UNC. Butch needs to pay the man if it comes down to 50K or less.

Is Chizik really as good as they think as a DC? His auburn defenses as HC were never any good but that's what he is known for. Muschamp sucked as HC but made sure he still had a really good defense

If chizik doesn't have newton or fairly, he doesn't win the nc imo

People seem confident that Allen has the size, length, and footwork to be a solid LT. Does St. Louis have those same attributes to be a good LT or would he be better suited for RT? I'm sure its just speculation at this point, and it appears the staff would take either or both guys. I was just curious on whether anyone had any insight after watching these guys in the all-star game.

I did not see St. Louis, but Allen was great at LT in the Semper Fi bowl. I'm not sure what he looks like against an elite speed rush though, it seemed he was able to drive his guy out of out of the margins on my TV though, ha!

 Ummmmm, duh! That's why he recruited and signed them. Chizik sure wasn't going to suit up and play QB and DT himself. Never understood this logic.

I was meaning if he didn't ever win BC of having those guys would he even be considered a good hire

Based on offer lists alone I would prefer Allen.

Allen better get a move on.
With limited spots left on the train, the first OL to commit may be the only one.
As we need OT depth, I would love to have both, but we have to be coming close to the end of the rope.

His NC ring puts a gaping whole in that argument. They stifled a red hot Oregon offense. Try again.

So getting a national title ring equates to having a strong defense? Since when? And while they kept Oregon in check for one game they gave up a lot of points against a lot of other teams throughout 2010. This doesn't even account for the other 3 years Auburn displayed shaky defenses. I think you should try again.

I have to think we would take an extra OT before we would take an extra RB (Love or Vaughn), WR (Newsome or Jefferson) or LB (Quarte Sapp). That is the biggest need right now.

We have a RB (Hurd) that could easily be in the running for the Heisman Trophy, soon, if he has a solid OL in front of him. So, we need to get as many OT's as we can, seeing it is the lone remaining area of deficiency for us.

Lol, Oregon wouldn't stand a chance without Marriota. That coach is overrated.

Rofl, we have signed exactly 0 HS LT in the last 4 or 5 years. I'm pretty sure he can wait as long as he wants.

If we land him who would you want if we could only take one more?
