dorsey reminds me of randy moss in showing up when he wants to. i think by feb. tenn will be the best team in the country with the way their defense forces turnovers. memphis will try to play fast paced with tenn and get spanked. big brother wins again. does anyone feel memphis is not even in tennessee? i find it hard cheering for them in anything

There is absolutely nothing I have seen from our team to this point in the season that makes me think we will be the best team in the country, or beat Memphis.

Memphis will welcome a fast tempo game and man to man defense, i can promise you of that.

Dude, please tell me who you think on UT can handle Dorsey? Oh and then there's Dozier, Anderson, CDR and Rose. That is just to much fire power.
Kemp Taggart, Allen, and Mack, the transfer from the gators. No answer for the VOLS.:clapping:

that shouldn't be hard considering his recent trend in minutes/per game
Actually, he has been getting pretty good minutes up until the Georgetown game. That is because Dorsey was able to control his fouling tendency in the GU game. Taggert is the best center Memphis has had since Cal has been there, outside of Dorsey (might not be saying a whole lot though).

If Lofton gets hot like last year and Dorsey stays on the bench in foul trouble (both are favorable), I think it will be a very good game. The way UT played the end of the Xavier game was as much of a stepping stone this year for them as the GU game was for Memphis.

Still way too early to give a prediction on this game though IMO.

I am not sure what you have seen that backs that opinion up.

Our team will be ready. They also have to worry about containing Lofton, Smiths, Chism, Duke, Prince. We can match up with them just fine. Pearl has beaten some big teams that we had no business being in the ballgame with and he knows how big a game this will be for his program. The winner might be the receiver of #1 seed if we take care of business. So it could potentionally be huge. The fact that they play the easy Con. USA schedule could play a big part. They might not have any real competition in a month or so. If the 3's start raining, then we win. If we can't hit, then we lose. Just like most games.

Chatt is a mixed bag of bammers, dawgs, tigers, jackets and vols

cant argue with that. whatever team is doing good is what flags seems to fly. nashville and memphis are the same though. georgia fans in chatt are most disturbing though.

the xavier game maybe? and lofton is still off. memphis has a good team but you get williams(who is a shock to me) and chism going tennessee will be tought to beat and they will go all out for memphis.

So the Xavier game made you think that Tennessee is worthy of being the top team in the country in a couple of months?

(not taking anything away from the Xavier game)

it shows how deep they can go and how they wore down a good team. they hit the boards when it mattered at the end also. ramar smith also showed he can finish with the best. they can play with anybody and the sec is not that strong this year.

Why are we talking about this game when its two months away? If the game were to be played today the vols would have no way of beating Memphis. That being said, two months is a long time and a lot of things can change between now and then. In order for UT to have a shot we need to establish an inside presence, find 3 perimeter defenders that can match up with Rose, CDR, and Anderson, and find some consistency from long range. Even with all of that, we have to play out of our minds for 40 minutes and get a ton of breaks in order to win. Memphis matches UT in all of the Vols strengths (depth, athleticism, pressure defense) and as of late the Tigers have been playing much better team basketball which is amazing for a Calapari coached team. CBP talked about not being able to pressure Lavender and Xavier once they got the ball inbounds, and the same will be the case with Rose and Memphis. I just feel that Memphis' ability to negate the Vols pressure D and the fact that bench depth is a wash between to two teams, Memphis has too much for Tenn to overcome.

If you read past the first line in my post you'd realize I went into detail about what I thought it would take for UT to win the game. I think too much can happen in two months to make an accurate prediction, but seeing that I do have a take on both of the teams I gave my opinion assuming the game be played today.

I think the addition of JP in the games has been HUGE. His game will GREATLY help against Memphis.

If both of these teams keep progressing, it will be one of the best games of the year nationally, a Duke-UNC type game maybe.

I thought the Memphis-GU game was going to be epic like that but it was only for 3/5 of the game.

Memphis has been the most talented team for the last 2 years IMO. They have outstanding athletes, but they do not always play with basketball smarts. Dorsey could be tremendous but it is hard when you get 3 fouls in the first 5 minutes of a game. Tennessee can play with and even beat Memphis, but if Memphis plays smart I don't know any team that will beat them at their place. Time will tell.

Dorsey's foul problems are well documented, but someone PLEASE tell me who we have that is enough of a presence inside to make Dorsey foul? If we get Tyler and JP slashing inside we may be able to get a couple cheap fouls on him, but to be honest he'll probably sit in the paint and let Chism try to bank three's all day. Not exactly good for us. Like I've said, a lot can change in two months, but we don't match up well with Memphis at all as of right now.
