The other teams that previously were recruiting Darrin Kirkland Jr. havent backed off since he announced his commitment to Tennessee on Dec. 15.
As far as hes concerned, though, his recruitment is over.
The Top247 senior linebacker from Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis said Texas, Arkansas and Michigan are among the other teams that have continued pursuing him over the past two weeks, but his commitment to the Vols remains 100-percent solid.
Kirkland is scheduled to arrive at Tennessee on Jan. 4 the day after he plays in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl to join the Vols as an early enrollee. He will attend his first spring-semester classes Jan. 7.
Im flying out right after this, so Im excited to get there and work, he said after arriving in San Antonio for the national all-star game. Crazy to think about, but Im excited for a new challenge. Im just looking forward to being in Rocky Top and experiencing everything Tennessee has to offer for me.
