wow Bruno, why is it so hard for you to admit that JP is a great player? He has played great in his first 3 games, from the BENCH. You try to mask it all by saying you are defending you position against Prince worshipers, but it's not like anyone thinks he's Jordan or something. We are just excited to have a dynamic athletic player putting up points, but I suppose you aren't since it would force you to reverse your position that JP wouldn't make an impact this year.

exactly. our pg play hurts any other 4 that we put out there. Ramar is rhe only hope, but he looks light years away.

Tyler vs. JP...blah blah blah. Tyler's better, JP's better...blah blah blah.

Who cares? They're both huge additions to this team - Saturday's game was yet more proof. If someone wants to waste keypad clicks denigrating either player, let them do it. It's a waste of their time and anyone else who wants to reply.

Well said! And forget about all the posts about Prince only having 3 games under his belt. He performed - and performed WELL in all 3. There is room for optimism, IMHO.

Prince has been a pleasant surprise to me. i didn't think he would be a total noncontributor, but i didn't believe he would have an impact on the entire team like he has. He has helped the team. I'm glad he transferred. If we could get a couple of other problems solved, it could be a good tourney year.

Prince is good and had a good game last night but it seemed like most of his points were either dunks or layups. I know he made that one three but other than that i don't remember him shooting jumpers.

A question for all on here who have commented about the length of Prince's (or any other player's) shots:

If you were a basketball player, would you rather shoot it from above the rim or from 20-ft away? Which do you think would constitute a "better" shot?

If you mean which is "better" to be attempting, then the put -in is naturally the one. On the other hand "better" as in a more skilled shot is the long shot. But then a better play is to get in for the close shot.

If dunks and layups are so easy, why don't players just shoot them all the time?

He was - but T. Smith is our 2nd best player behind Lofton. T. Smith stepped up in the end and showed what he's about as well.

Not so sure about this one. I think he MIGHT be our best player. Probably going to get some flames for this one, but Tyler can do so much more than Lofton. His size and athleticism gives him a complete advantage. Much better defensively. Lofton has a better 3 pt shot. One thing that Lofton has proven time and time again is he can take the team on his back and single handed win the game for us. Tyler hasn't done that yet. Tyler has by far been the most consistant player this year. He can do so much that helps our team. He averaged about 15 points a game last year and about the same this year. If he's here next year he will be closer to 20 pts a game without all our scorers.

I think Ramar is going to look alot better coming off the bench with Prince. Both usually come in at the same time. Prince playing point most of his life is obviously a decent ball handler. I think Dane being on the floor last year helped Ramar in that it gave us virtually 2 point guards on the floor at the same time. Prince being in with Ramar might do the same thing. Only time will tell.

JP vs. Tyler:
Outside threat: JP
Inside threat: Tyler
Rebounding:Tyler
Passing: Tyler
Getting to the basket and finishing: JP
Athletic ability: probably even
Defense:??? at times jp shows spurts of good d but other times he looks like he cant guard me. Tyler is a good defender but seems 2 get himself in bad positions at times.
NBA talent: Tyler though I can c both playing in a suns style team.
So in my opinion jp is great at the offensive end and a pretty good defender, but tyler is just a more well rounded player for our team. I guess it looks 2 me like jp is an athlete playing basketball and tyler is a basketball player who is very athletic. If that makes sense 2 anyone:eek:k:

Prince is a very good player, but Tyler is a great player. He's much better athletically. No comparison on defense. Tyler out hustles JP. Outside threat - who actually knows at this point. Tyler is smart enough to know that the 3 pt is not his best option to score, so he usually passes it off or creates a better shot for him. Prince has shown yesterday that he can take over a game and that's one thing that Tyler has yet to do. Prince steps up his D, both should be playing in the NBA though. Right now though Tyler > Prince

If dunks and layups are so easy, why don't players just shoot them all the time?

You shoot what the defense allows for the most part, plus what you are able to create with ball movement. Which requires more skill, a 6-10 and up dunking the ball or hitting 3 pointers, the defense being of equal intensity?

Wake up. Look at the name of this thread. You just said it yourself that JP is a 'great' player after THREE games. He's been pretty decent his first two games and great this past game.

And the remark in bold - you'd be surprised..

And that's just stupid to think that I'm not ecstatic about JP's performance and that I hope he doesn't do well. I'll gladly eat my words if he consistently puts up 15ish points per game and improves on defense. That would 'probably' mean our team is rolling.
