'15 IN LB Darrin Kirkland Jr (UT Commit 12/15/14)

So if our guy signs a financial aid agreement, but another school comes and flips him last minute, not from our own doing in the least, we are charged with a recruiting violation? That quite possibly may be the most illogical, moronic thing I've ever read.

You missed the beginning, where it was prefaced with NCAA. That alone negates the illogical and moronic because of redundancy!

Article claims AA is attempting to reduce the number of these FAA being handed out to get around the recruiting rules.

There could be violations only if they use relaxed rules after the player signs the agreement. If they continue recruiting normally and the player signs somewhere else that wouldn't be a violation (is what I'm understanding).

Anything can happen..but I don't think we have anything to worry about. Kirkland will be here in January and will have a great chance to earn playing time in the fall

May be referring to this:

"As a part of its April meeting, Division I Legislative Council members decided that schools may continue to recruit with relaxed recruiting rules prospects who sign financial aid agreements for mid-year enrollment. But if that prospect does not enroll at the school, the school will be considered in violation of recruiting rules."

NCAA Recruiting Rule Change Brings Financial Aid Rule Back to Its True Intention | Bleacher Report

That only applies to schools that aren't the first one a recruit signs FAA with if I'm not mistaken. That change was made to deter a recruit from signing multiple FAAs. Only the first school is allowed all the perks without a penalty if the kid doesn't sign there.
