JP vs. Tyler:
Outside threat: JP
Inside threat: Tyler
Rebounding:Tyler
Passing: Tyler
Getting to the basket and finishing: JP
Athletic ability: probably even
Defense:??? at times jp shows spurts of good d but other times he looks like he cant guard me. Tyler is a good defender but seems 2 get himself in bad positions at times.
NBA talent: Tyler though I can c both playing in a suns style team.
So in my opinion jp is great at the offensive end and a pretty good defender, but tyler is just a more well rounded player for our team. I guess it looks 2 me like jp is an athlete playing basketball and tyler is a basketball player who is very athletic. If that makes sense 2 anyone:eek:k:

JP has only hit 1 outside shot. So that is a wash at this point until we see more.

2nd - Tyler Smith's whole game is about getting to the basket and finishing. So I think that's a wash as well.

Defense - it's Tyler in a landslide... no question at this point. That block near the end of the game was amazing and he's great at steals. JP has not been playing well at defense his first 3 games and that's putting it nicely.

Tyler more athletic (atleast right now) - due to his strength. If JP hadn't lost so much weight then he'd be right up there with Tyler though. He's still a toothpick from when he got sick.

JP seems to be a bit quicker off the dribble than Tyler though. Tyler just runs right through people and doesn't avoid contact.. which is good and bad.

I can't believe what I'm reading. Geez people, he's played 3 games. Sure, he played well today and even knocked down an outside shot, which I didn't think he had in him. But the majority of these people on here praising him as God are the probably the same ones that were comparing Brian Williams to Glen Davis and Sean May after the WKU game as a Freshman.

Ok on the outside shooting it just seems 2 me that jp looks more comfortable from 19' 9'' than tyler. As far as getting to the basket tyler is very good at it yes, but I am just looking at some of the ways jp gets there by lobs and driving though i can c what your saying on tyler. Tyler is probably a better defender, but if jp could get more physcial he could be an above average defender as well. Athletic ability though jp just seems like a beast. Not 2 say tyler is not because I have said its between him jp and duke 4 best athlete all year.

Yeah - I've been trying my best since the game... but I'll just let some people worship him if that makes them happy..

Tyler has the hops as well - but he can bully you around with his frame.. something JP can't do yet.

But JP and Tyler are both freaks of nature athletically which we haven't had the past few years.. Stanley Asumnu yes... but he just wasn't a good player.

Nobody cares what you think. You have a duke pic. :dance2: :) just aggravatin. I understand what you are saying though. We all need 2 settle down at times, but we are tennessee fans. We c a glimpse of greatness and we are on the wagon, but a small bit of failure and we are right back off.

JP has more hops than Tyler. From the few games i've seen JP play this year, he's a freak. I've been disappointed withg Tyler this year, he's not puting up the numbers that i thought he would. But why are we trying to compare the two players, it's not fair to either of them. They both bring a different aspect of the game to the team and they make the team better when they're in the game. Tyler is our leading rebounder... he's tied for #1 in assists, 2nd in blocks, 2nd in steals, and 3rd in scoring in a team that is loaded with 13.1 points per game..

Nevermind about the numbers. It just feels like he doesn't do as much as he really does. But i was expecting AA numbers or first team All-SEC and he hasn't done that yet. But my expectations for him might be a little high.

Yeah - I have expected more from his scoring wise.. because I know he can score more. But he fills up the stat sheet fast but it goes without notice a lot of time. His most impressive stat on that list are his 39 assists and 28 steals with his size.

It's hard for one to accomplish that when they're surrounded by such great talent. It's not like he's going to play 35 minutes a game anyway.

Look for it to rise a bit more if we pull it out @ Gonzaga then a win at home hopefully against an undefeated Ole Miss. Probably top 5... we've were the Pearl's first year I believe.

You are telling us that we are worshiping JP for saying that he's just as good as Tyler, but in reality you are worshiping Tyler. You have to argue everytime someone critiques his game.

Tyler has earned it. JP has played 3 games. Tyler has been our most consistent player if you want to look at the numbers again.

It is a message board. Without disagreement there really wouldn't be a point to it.

You're right his stats do go without notice. I was surprised when i saw his numbers.

That's the reason why i think we shouldn't be comparing the players. JP has only played 3 games in 2 Yrs. So it's to early to compare.

I agree. Some JP Prince worshipper brought it up early in the thread.

But I'm still confident T. Smith is better - even more so if he is assertive on offense. The guy wasn't projected a first rounder for nothing.
