After being at the Vandy game, that's not necessarily the worst thing for our defense. J.Johnson looked completely lost much of the game. He was out of position on several of their big plays. They inserted Bynum late in the game and we got the stops.

I'm sure Jakob is a superior athlete but in that game he looked like a guy who hasn't played a ton.

Although it would stink for him not to get to play in front of his "home" crowd in Jacksonville.

He'll be a good redshirt guy next year I think. Bates or Bryant get the MLB role I'm guessing, JJ can sit back couple years and learn.

I think in time Jakob will be serviceable but I couldn't agree more

Quick recruiting question for you guys to agonize over. Would Henderson's space be able to be backcounted? I know that generally the 25 is not effected by people leaving the program but he never cleared so he never counted as a signed athlete.

He signed a LOI, so he counts.

I definitely think he will develop into a good player for us. I wonder if he won't eventually grow into a DE? I know that was discussed in depth before. His development will be fun to watch. At the least he seems to be a "team" guy and potentially could become a leader as he gets older.

I think his physical abilities are top notch. If he ever gets to the point where he reads and reacts as second nature (rather than having to think and process information on the fly) he will be way better than serviceable.

Hmm. Going by that we should only be able to take 25 this year though which doesn't appear to be the case. There is no room to backcount, given we took a full class last year. There has to be some wiggle room somewhere.

According to NotoriousRPP (I think), the plan is to have Lovinggood, Bruce, and Stewart blueshirt, so they will count towards 2016 class. Also, the plan ATM is for Perry to not play next year and be on either baseball or academic scholarship. Then, he will be on football scholarship, starting in 2016, so he counts to that class. The poster who posted this can correct me if I'm wrong.

Two years in the program would have made a difference and would have made him more formidable for a freshman to overtake his 3rd string spot (unless they are the next Jalen Hurd, which doesn't seem likely).

By then that freshman would be a sophomore? He wouldn't have TWO years in until the freshman had one.

ESPN bowl mania picked tennessee to beat iowa.

Edit: was looking at Todd McShay's board. we are 24/38 on the more confident side.

I thought 28,was the number being thrown around.

Well then it's nice to see that we're meeting expectations since somebody else was just saying the program is trending downward and people have talked about firing Holly.

I wonder how many of those wanting to fire Holly already remember how long it took Summitt to get over the hump? Programs don't just run of fumes and Holly is a good coach, she'll have her breakthrough if our spoiled fans actually give her time.

I think Bryant has a lot of potential. Needed a year to get his body and mind ready. Will factor in next year IMO.

For everyone freaking out about the departures look at what is left of the 2014 recruiting class and tell me it still doesn't look elite. We knew there were going to be a bunch of defections this offseason due to the class we are bringing in. IMO I am glad we are losing young guys who didn't pan out than losing more JR's or SO's that have been in the program for a few years. We need some veterans on the roster next year and the 2014 class had a lot of room to lose players and it not hurt us over the long run.

DL and RB are the only ones that look lite now (obv QB) but we have big time players coming in at both of those positions that can contribute day 1 in 2015.

NOTHING to worry about IMO.

Watching Manziel highlights, he looks exactly like he did in college, just Mike Evans isn't bailing him out. Not sure why Browns are acting so surprised, he hasn't changed a bit.
