Interesting read on Tyler Smith

Tyler Smith is shooting 40% from 3 right now. He doesn't shoot it much - but he has the ability too. He shot above 30% at Iowa I believe as well.

Chism is also shooting .240% from 3 and half of his threes are bank shots that go in the rest are air balls.

Middle of the 1st round... basically where ever NBA scouting report has put him would be my guess?

The point about the 3 point shooting is he CAN shoot it which is a huge threat and raises his stock even more. That's like saying Josh Tabb is a horrible shooter because he chooses to be a team player and passes first unless he has a wide open look.

I'm going to laugh at you so hard when he's picked 1st round. It's almost garunteed at this point if he plays average the rest of the season.

But there really wasn't that much competition besides Drew N. from Michigan State, Oden, and Conley... he just wasn't noticed playing at Iowa.

Please don't forget about Alando Tucker...I know it's not important, but he was actually the Big 10 POY last season. So soon we forget. Anyways,Tyler Smith is a first rounder whenever he chooses to come out, but I have a hard time seeing him being a lottery pick, at least this season. But a second rounder??? Come on, he may not be a great shooter right now, but you can't teach his athleticism or his feel for the game. His shoot is improving, but he still isn't confident in it and is even hesitant when he's open. Still, Smith's got all sorts of intangibles that only a few players in college basketball posses. Mid-late first rounder if he comes out this season, with a shot of being in the lottery next year IMO. He'll play a lot more perimiteter if he comes back and that'll def. help his stock a lot.

I think tabb is a horrible shooter :) but back 2 the post. Good source told me tyler will "more thank likely" be 2 years at ut and done. He will have 2 play the three in the pros and with next year team it looks like he may play the 3 guard for us.

I didn't forget about Tucker :p.

I was listing some of the other candidates that had a legit shot at winning it. I assumed Tucker was understood to be there.

His FG and 3 point percentage would tell you otherwise.

And your source is really going out on a limb there!

I'm pretty sure it was common knowledge than T. Smith would stay 1 year.. 2 years at the most before going to the NBA...

Yep - mainly the casual UT basketball fan believes Tabb can't shoot it decently.

And I can't believe Sam died... (just got back from the movie - heck I can't believe they both died)

he is not a good shooter. Not a top 5 on our team probably. And yeah sorry about my source being it came from the man himself. If he does jump 2 the pros who could blame him? Almost like the meachem situation. If you need the money go get the money :good!:

No - I never said I had a problem with him leaving. It was common knowledge though that he wouldn't stay for 3 full years.

And please rank your top 5 shooters on CONSISTENCY. Please, please do not put Jajaun Smith in the top 2 or include JP Prince on the list.

Tabb is one of our top 5 shooters. In terms of catch and shoot from beyond the arc. Outside of Lofton we have just decent and inconsistent shooters at best.

Btw - Josh Tabb was 2nd in FG % last year slightly behind Duke Crews - who only shot right at the basket.

He was also above 30% shooting 3s last year and is this year. His 2pt % is still fairly high this year but last year shot 50% from inside the arc.
