I don't remember this posted, but we're stuck with Butch for a while. If we were to get rid of him next year, $8mil buyout. Year after, $6mil buyout. $4 mil year after that, etc. So, hope he gets it done lol

I don't feel stuck with Butch, but I did with Dooley and now with Holly. :)

Eh he'd get 2 more years no matter what, so 4 Mil isn't too bad after that.

A poster of VQ asked Fortenberry about some of the defensive linemen

We will see what happens to Hendrix. But, I do believe Henderson is a casualty of the NCAA thing. Sawyers is back around the team and was at practice this week. He seems to be doing much better this last month than where he was in the middle part of the season.

If I read correctly there is an offset assuming he takes a job and a clause that he needs to attempt to. So as I understand it if Butch gets another job paying 2mil per year we'd subtract that from what he is owed. So 8mil could be 6 and so on. Dooley via Mike didn't have one, of course.

BTW prayers again to anyone that is still struggling with family illness or breakup hurts. I got into praying like I should a few months back and I make sure VN peeps are in there when I do.

If Scott, Hendrix, and Helm left i'd say you have some sour grapes because all of those guys saw the damn field in some form or fashion.

As others have said, there are dozens of reasons a kid might want to transfer. If you're saying those particular players have an issue, fine. I just hope you aren't suggesting some widespread discord based on a few potentially dissatisfied players.

I am saying dudes seeing time as freshmen even limited time rarely rarely talk transfer their Freshman year. 2 would be an indication of something. Transfers happen all the time but usually it's being pushed by coaches or it's Soph's and Jr's trying to get a year or 2 starting elsewhere. Usually lower level. As someone else said very possibly it's because they are all freshman starters and they see no light in the tunnel.

Well I guess I can't say it isn't something deeper. I just don't see the good in trying to make it that way when you don't know.

I should stop arguing with horses, especially drunk ones. :)

I named my Avy Blotto but in truth I almost never drink. I may post like I do but I don't. Also I said earlier i am not suggesting we have a major issue but the next wave of guys needs to be prepared to sit and wait their turn or fight like hell to steal one. We have to build solid depth.

Hendrix is a damn fool if he does go. By the time he would play DIV 1 again he'd already be the replacement for Maggit on what may be the greatest D line we have ever assembled.

Don't know if it's been mentioned here but along with Jones' new raise, we upped his buyout to 4 million should he leave.

Hart doing work.

Hamilton would have paid 4 million a year with no buyout.

OrangeBlood4life, I'm sorry for the circumstances your sister finds herself in and hope this doesn't cause a separation since it sounds like it's her aunt's home/situation that is problematic (well, that is unless your sister is being neglectful). Lice is unfortunate but it's so common and 'contagious' among kids that neglect isn't the only conclusion so it may not be that your sister isn't a bad mom so much as one that is in a bad situation. It could honestly have generated elsewhere despite the poor conditions *BUT* it could also be neglect and/or the conditions. Hopefully CPS can sort all of this out.

That brings me to a few questions.... 1. Does your sister and her child have anywhere else to go or are they out of living options? 2. Are they on a waiting list for public housing? (I know there's an incredible backlog -- several years in some places -- but a situation like this one could move them to the front of the line and lead to a better outcome from all of this). 3. Are you and/or any other relatives able to house them while they get their footing? (I know that's not always possible and that she may not even agree to that but if a better home/family member in terms of a healthy environment could step up it would likely be of help to the child

In normal circumstances, I'm not terribly freaked out by messy homes on their own or even just a cockroach problem as that can happen due buying produce these days as the nasty little buggers infest everything BUT I get the feeling from your post it goes far beyond just messy w/cockroaches. In that scenario, you don't have a choice. You MUST CALL. I'm also of the mind that it takes more than normal issues to get a family member or even a friend to make that call because no one wants to call authorities on loved ones and we all want to think the best of them. I don't think you'd have brought this up if it weren't bad, maybe far worse than you're describing.

IOW, please don't feel guilty - this is the only real choice you have and more than what you saw could be going on. You walked into a bad situation and that's not your fault.

If you're worried about family issues from reporting - don't reveal to them that it was you who called as they'll never know otherwise. From my understanding CPS doesn't reveal sources and it's ALWAYS better to err on the side of caution.

I wish you, the child and your entire family the best. All of you will be in my thoughts but you are definitely doing the right thing by calling. Stay strong, orangeblood. I know it's hard. But you're doing the right thing. :toast:

I'm an idiot. I've been in an NFL survivor league this year. You just had to pick the winner of one game each week, but could only use each team once. Two strikes and you're out. 50 people signed up, put in $20, and winnings were to be paid $600/$300/$100 to the top 3.

I've made it a habit of picking my game on Thursdays so I could see updated lines, injuries, etc. but hadn't honestly paid much thought to the picks.

I was down to the final 2 going into tonight. I've been in trial all week and didn't even know what day it was. Went Christmas shopping with the wifey since our son was at granddad's tonight. I got a text from the league commish at 9:00 tonight (deadline to pick is 8:25) saying "WTF dude? Do you hate money?"

Forgot to pick. I forfeited. What a DA.

Cool story, bros?
