Eric Garner Grandy Jury Decision Today

Thats a good point.

Also makes you wonder how many here and abroad fall into that empathy mode if this guy was gunned down for his cigs on the street by the competition.

f the cops had shot him then I would have a problem with it.

I bet people in other countries laugh their a**es off at what you describe as tyranny.

Their amusement has little to do with the reality of the concept as it exists in America. And that was one item. It was the first thing that popped into my head. Your problem here is that you are getting economic prosperity and liberty mixed up somehow.

I have visited other countries and our liberties is right there at the top also. I think people don't realize how good americans have it.........Could there be a better system? ....possibly but there is not any without flaws

There are countries that have to deal with the militarization of the police.....what happens in this country is not close to that.

I don't think you know what tyranny is. It has nothing to do with how many cars and big screen televisions you have. And I'm quite impressed with your delusion if you've convinced yourself that we don't live in at least a soft version of tyranny. The police are a tool used (in an increasingly militarized fashion) to ensure that the tyranny remains unchecked.

Go visit almost anywhere outside of North America..you'll learn what real tyranny is. If Asia you'll also learn what a tranny is.

I sincerely doubt you've visited many countries that have as many tax laws, business regulations, and drug war victims as we do. But hey, as long as we all get to strap on our Monsanto feed bags and veg out watching our giant flat screen televisions, we're all good.

Why do you argue with people who want a better system? Sure we might rank near the top when it comes to a lot of different types of liberty, but who cares what the rest of the world is doing? The American spirit is to always do better.

In 1775 they had a name for people who sat around saying, "you know how good we have it compared to the rest of the world?"....they were called Tories.

What tax laws, and business regulations would u change? I agree the war on drugs is a giant failure but Im not sure legalizing all of it wont make society much worse.

I have read some of your ideas for what is better and I don't agree with a lot of them. Im all for bettering America but I don't know what a better system would be.

Any form where the government doesn't use the threat of coercion to steal money from you.

Give an example of a better govt system..... I ask these kind of questions on this board a lot and no one ever states a better way of doing things. They always list what their perception of what is wrong with the current system.

This is a very useful sentiment, and it's why I have the opinions I do. Nobody knows what's best, so the idea that government can socially engineer optimal results is absurd.

Either you want a government that (1) tries to create an ideal society, or you want a government that (2) simply protects liberty. If you choose the first, you ignore the fact that nobody knows what's best, and even if they do know, the idea that they can bring about the results they want is equally absurd. If you choose the latter, you accept that fact and choose a system of personal responsibility.

What do u consider protecting liberty though?
